Lightweight, inexpensive 308 bolt gun ?

I think for $270 you can hardly go wrong. Heck, I'd have bought it at that price and have zero need for another .308!

They had it's big brother in '06 for the same price.
Thought about buying it too, but I don't need another 06.

Since I don't stand hunt for whitetails, I have no need for a .308. The .30-06 and .300 mag fill my needs for a .30 caliber.

Well despite the weather I conned Creedmore I to a trip to the club today.
35 and drizzling but no wind.
Took forever to get all the cosmoline out of the barrel.
Should have done this beforehand, I know.

As I already had a bunch of 308 ammo loaded I grabbed a box out of the cabinet and off we went.
48 grs of H380
CCI BR2 primer
165 NBT
2.800 OAL

Boresight to 100 yd zero w 4 rounds, cleaning in between.
Round 5 is at 1:00
I did not adjust scope.
Cleaned it again.
Round five is at 7:00

Did not clean it.
Rounds 6 and 7 are at 12:00

This is a 1 inch dot.
Scope is a 2-7x35 Vortex Diamondback
Crosshairs pretty much cover the dot at 100 yards.
52 year old eyes compound the problem.

Bambi's dad is already in serious trouble.

Darn nice Howard! Looks like that's one of those you keep 'til you kids give it away. We do live in the Golden age of rifles. A decent $300 rifle will go sub inch regularly. Nice CL

Yep...this mirrors my experience with the American as well.

We DO live in the Golden Age of rifles. There are several $300 rifles that'll do that with boring regularity!

I would also look at the new Mossberg Bolt actions? They are good looking rifles for a bargain price.
