Well, we had our monthly 1,000 yard F-Class shoot today and my 'little 6BR' pulled through. I shot a 578-17X (out of 600-60X) to win the match! My buddy who lost by one x last match shot a 575-20X with his 6.5-284. It was a blast! Conditions were mild and I lost 11 points in the last relay due to a late string wind shift I should have picked up on! Entirely my fault!!! I feel like an idiot for missing it!

But this little rifle keeps impressing me! One 'Usual member' has dubbed my rifle "Purple Fire"...I can honestly say I am not sure how I feel about this name...

1. Congratulations on some excellent shooting and the win!

2. The name fits...

There is certainly no danger of losing "Purple Fire" in the snow or in the woods. Congratulations on the win. You apparently know how to make your 6 BR sing the appropriate melody.

Way to go 300WinMag! That's awesome. Rifle looks very cool as well! Great shooting buddy!

Thanks fella's! I'm having a lot more fun with this rifle than I anticipated. I still love my .300, but I've learned that you don't need a .30 caliber to do well at long range. It's also much cheaper and more fun to shoot 60+ rounds of 6mm with 30.0 grains of Varget than 76.0 grains of H-1000.

Most of you know this was a BR gun my gunsmith built for himself in 97; all I did was put a new 1-8" twist 27" Hart on it. Loaded 105 Berger Hybrids 0.015" off the lands topped with 30.0 grains of Varget. Shot better than I could, easiest load work up ever. 2,878fps MV, ES 7fps, SD 4fps. (I do weight sort and sort base to ogive bullets with this rifle)

I know Guy is an advocate of buying used match rifles and I support him 110% on this. You'll be amazed at the deals you can find on good match rifles previously owned by those who are looking to help introduce people to the many different shooting sports.
