Little Howa sure is a shooter.

I picked up a Howa Ranchland Compact in a 22-250 last summer and just through a load together for it. It was my "wheeler" gun for Coyotes (we run cattle in Idaho on weekends). Gets dusty and dirty. I actually filled my deer tags with it last season too. It had a VXIII 3.5-10 on it but I moved that over to a Sako 85 I picked up from Euro Optic (they have 338 Federal Sako 85s for $725-775 range). I picked up they LSS version.
Anyway back to the Howa. I had a Cabelas 3-9 sitting in a box and put in on. Made a few different loads up to max of 31.7 of H322 and 55 BT. The max load printed a .1875" 3 shot group at 95yds. I know this is just one group but this gun has been used to "bust rocks" reliably at 500yds. I have to admit that for a less expensive gun and done nothing to it, "It just Shoots".

I made 8 diff loads with 2 powders for that 338F and it likes H322 also @ 2605fps. I didn't measure the last 3 shot group but 2 shots in one hole and 3rd has just a sliver paper in between.

Excellent! That one is a keeper for sure. It's pretty amazing what a good factory rifle can do anymore... Makes my rifle-builder friend a little irritated from time to time...
