Abby finally went and bought a whitetail doe tag yesterday evening so I took her out this morning. We drove out to a place I got permission on and sat on the edge of an alfalfa field that has been drawing 150 or do deer every morning and evening. They decided to cross back to some other property earlier than normal this morning but we still managed to sneak about 1/2 mile across the field and intercepted 6 does. Abby laid out with her bipod down while I was tryin to get my video camera set up. She got a little excited and shot before I could get ready but she made a 250 yard shot on this doe that went about 75 yards and piled up! It was a slight quartering to shot so she took out the bottom of the lungs, the liver and then it exited right behind the rib cage on the far side. Abby is deadly with her Marlin XS7Y 7mm-08. She is shooting some hand loads with 140gr Accubonds!

Wonderful. My little girl has the same gun in purple!

What is you load and how old is Abby?

She should join the forum... Montana Huntress~

Congratulations to Abby. As I recall, she did well last year also. You're doing a fine job with your little sis, DT. Congratulations for taking the role of big brother seriously.

Congratulations Abby, there is some fine eating for the winter.
DT congratulations with your sister, glad to see that you 2 have some common interests :), family is everything :)

Blessings,
Dan

How old is she?

Reason I ask is my little girl is 11 and she is petite. Just a little concerned with full power loads and recoil.

I will start with reduced loads next spring.

Fotis, she is 14. We started her out in my moms little sako vixen 223 but she never killed a deer with it. For practice on paper, she uses a lead sled but in the field she shoots off of a bipod or shooting sticks. As long as she has her ear plugs she is good to go. Her first year, she was a little Leary of the 7-08 but she has come to love it! And she loves the fact that she shoots a bigger rifle than me since I use my 243 for deer most of the time lol

Awesome buddy!

I will start her with 120 BT's with H4895 reduced stuff.

DT, great work. I enjoy hunting with my two brothers more than anybody. Good on you for taking care of your little sis. Congrats to her.

Fotis, the 120bt in the 7-08right is a sweetheart, and deadly! I'm sure it will account for many goats and deer for your daughter.
