I have tried Lilgun and AA1680 with 40 and 45gr bullets. Lilgun seems too have too high of velocity at low load decity so I quit there. AA1680 has worked well with good accuracy with velocities of 3100fps for the 40gr and 3000fps for the 45gr.

The BR4 is the primer I have used which has worked great in my 223rem. The STD-DEV has been high in the 221FB 30-100fps and I am used to number under 20 and even under ten in other cartridges.

So which powder and primers have worked for you? I have federal 205 to try and was thinking about H4891.

tjen,

The 221 Fireball is a cool little round. I always thought it would be excellent for the semi urban coyotes I hunt.
Take a look at RL 7. Nosler list this as the most accurate powder tested. Starting load with a 40 gr BT is 17.0 grs, Mid load is 18.0 grs and the Max load is 19.0 grs for 3242 fps.

Thanks, I might give reloader 7 a try. I did load a batch of AA1680/45gr sp-pt using 205 primer too see what change a primer change may make. I do not think the FB suffers from not having enough room for powder.

I would like a full power 40gr load for it but a mild load using the spire point 45gr shows promis and they show the same MZ as their SXSP bullets. An accurate 40gr B-tip at 3200fps would be nice

This is a used rifle a limited run on the laminit stock. I am toying with putting a shilen factory contour barrel on it. The chamber seems like it may be on the large end of the tolerance and the lands are way out there. So I do not know if its factory or its leed has been modified.

My favorite load was 18.3 H4198 with a 40 gr BT for great accuracy and 3240 fps.

18.6 grains of Rel 7 seems to show up on many of the posts I have seen, using 40 nbt's. My Cz 221 FB shoots them very well, 3/8" is the norm if I do my part.
