This was taken off our back deck... About 30 yards to the fence. Thinking about using our patio table for a benchrest.... Any rifle recommendations?

Just kidding... :). Daughter wouldn't allow it... Mule deer first began appearing near our home a few years ago - I'm thinking in response to the re-introduced wolves in the distant hills. Never saw a mule deer in the valley floor till then. We've seen lots of Whitetail deer near our home through the years, but no Mulies. Now, we've got about 30 head in the neighborhood.

A couple of fine-looking bucks. I'm guessing that you are correct and these deer are seeking refuge from the wolves. We witnessed that when we lived in Jasper as the mule deer and elk moved into the town site, primarily to avoid the wolf population.

30-378 should get it done at that range but just to be sure I would try and stalk a little closer if possible.

Awesome picture! Seems like a 338RUM or something would be needed to reach out "that far"! Scotty

I dunno'. Those are pretty big looking critters. Better give Fotis a call to see if he has a lead on a 460 Bee.

I would use a 44 Rem Mag revolver and use the travel trailer as a deer camp/blind.

Well darn the luck. That deer is way too close for a game king. I,d go with a mag velocity air rifle with stainless steal pellets.

Yeah FOTIS has a 458 Lott for sale...that may do the job as long as you use some 500 grain solids. Haha, camp meat.

That would do the trick! I keep telling the wife that the cure for the deer eating all (and I do mean all) of her flowers would be to eat one of them.... Then, she says "ohhhh dear". We are considering getting a wolf tag.... Won't eat those...

The following shot was taken yesterday. Not sure if daughter has named him yet.... I'm calling him Bambi. The other twin is just out of the frame.

BT - very cool pics...I have had a doe and fawn wonder through my yard a few times this summer, but nonw are camping out :)

You need to let those antlers develop and feed them a little grain. When they get tame enough you can just throw a saddle on em and ride em down to the butcher shop
Greg

Greg you could take that new .280 Remington down there and try it out! I think it can handle the shot from the house to the yard edge!! After all it is the PERFECT long range deer rifle!

Since they are Pets, and you've already named them, I guess you could feed them:

Good idea on the antler growth food! They're not quite pets though. I want to eat one of them. The BBQ is right there on the deck...

I'm thinking 50-cal...
