Well, I got home today and decided to put a few practice shots I had video taped together in a video. I often go out in the evening and weekends with my hunting equipment and take a few cold bore practice shots at random distances with the goal of making a first round hit. It's a way I practice for hunting season. I started recording the shots last year to review and help tune my ballistics data. There are some good shots of bullet trace in the video, especially on the first shot at 1,220 yards, you can see how high the bullet arcs and see how the wind affects it; there is also some pretty significant flight time. I'm also sorry if this is on the wrong part of the forum, I wasn't exactly sure where to put it. Hope you guys like it!

Nice! I'd say critters are in a LOT of trouble this fall... You're pretty much on.

Long range shooting is fascinating stuff, no doubt. Good video, watching the "trace" is pretty cool.

Thanks fella's, it's fun to do for sure. Most of these shots were done using 210gr. Berger VLD's, but there are a few shots on there using a 190gr. Sierra MK and 215gr. Berger Hybrid.

SJB358,

I unfortunately didn't draw any tags this year. My father did however and asked to use my rifle. This year he's sticking with what I know works well terminally and have the best ballistics solution worked out for. The 210gr. Berger Hunting VLD

Indeed it is. I've used them on a few elk and a deer and I have been very happy with the results.

Thank you very much for that report by the way that is some fine shooting :)
The 300 mag family is one of the best calibers out there.

Blessings,
Dan

great vid, if you don't mind could you tell me what video equipment your using?
thanks

I'm using a Sony cyber-shot handheld camera 14.1 Mega Pixels. I put the camera on a tripod behind my Swarovski spotting scope and video through the spotting scope. It takes some playing with to get good clarity and full FOV but with a little adjustment the videos don't turn out half bad.

This is wonderful. I loved watching the bullet in flight. Looks like a movie stunt, great, great, great. Your skills are outstanding. !!!!

I am sure that I have seen the spec's on that rifle here at another time. But could you please refresh my memory with picture or two and a description.? Thanks

The specs on the rifle are:

.300 Win. Mag. (SAMMI chamber)
Remington 700 Action
McMillan A-3 Stock
28" 1-10" twist Hart barrel in hunter bench rest contour
Jewell trigger set at 1lb
Nesika 20MOA bases
Kelbly rings
Tubb's recoil lug
Defensive Edge muzzle brake
Topped off with a Leupold VX-III EFR 6.5-20x40mm
All built by Mr. Truman Wilson (970)-874-3030

It's shot everything I've fed it so far really well! I go it in may of 2010 and have over 1000 rounds on the barrel. I've got another barrel at the gunsmiths now, I just haven't gotten him the rifle yet to put it on! It spits the 210 Berger out at 2,940fps with excellent accuracy; and as of now that is my go to hunting bullet for this rifle. I'm having technical problems and can't upload pictures now, but I will soon.

Cheers.

That is a great rig 300WM.. Sounds all business and those loads are pretty awesome as well.

Thanks for the refresher, I could guess on some of that from the video. Great shooting
