It is a 25-06. I should have the deal closed tomorrow..... Still on the fence

Does anyone know if the ruger red pads were ever made in the high gloss back in the 1980's? This one has been in the owners safe since 1984

I have never seen one in high gloss. They did make some early ones with a oil type finish but it was not high gloss. I do not believe that I have ever seen one that glossy. Nice wood though!

Sellers swears it was never touched from original.

I was told that there were a very select few that Ruger did this way. Not sure

From another site

Looks pretty shiny too me, but there was a short period of time with red pads that Ruger used a "shiny" finish. Has appearance of polyurethane;
Pretty outstanding piece of wood, too!

That the best wood I have seen on a No.1 I will try to get a pic up in next couple of days of a Ruger no.1 in 264 mag I have that El Numero uno from the Ruger forum said that was the best he had seen.

Looking forward to seeing that one Noslerfan! I do like those single shot Ruger rifles.

Fotis - I don't know if that's a factory finish or not - but it is indeed some beautiful wood. Looks like a keeper to me, factory or not.

You "need" another pronghorn rifle anyway right?
