Hello Nosler friends! New to the forum - you may know me from AR.

I'm planning my 2nd Moose hunt for NW Ontario this September - 1st hunt was 2008, so it's something I've looked forward to for some time.

I'll be shooting 175gr. partitions out of my 7mm Rem Mag, and I'm looking for data on that bullet with RL26. I also have RL22, RL 23, & IMR 7828SSC on hand.

I've found it difficult to search within the forum, so if there's a thread on this topic, generally, please don't hesitate to point me to it :)

Thanks so much - and P.S. Thanks Nosler for the new .277 150gr. Accubonds!!!

Welcome to the forum. I'm not currently loading for a 7 mm RM but you are on the right track when it comes to powder's every one of them would be a great choice. The 175 gr PT will be excellent for moose, lots of them fall here to loads like that. I'm looking forward to the 277 150 gr AB as well!

Good morning Gerry - great picture in your avatar! I shot a young bull like that in '08, and it was, unquestionably, the best venison I've ever eaten - as good as the best Nebraska beef, I might add. Hoping to do the same this fall.

Pretty tough to beat moose meat, wishing you all the best this fall. Hope to do that myself this fall too

Some years back I put a 175 gr Nosler Partition through a nice 6x6 bull elk at about 180 yards, with my 7mm Rem Mag. The bullet killed that big bull quickly, he only took a few steps.

Never tried RE-26 in it though. Should work great! Perhaps one of our ballistic gurus with Quickload will be along soon to provide some guidance.

Best of luck on the moose hunt!

Regards, Guy

Welcome aboard. Yeah, moose hunting can be addictive. As for dining fare, it is superb. I do love moose as table fare.

I've used the 7RM rather extensively on moose. I do like the 175 grain PT. The powders I've used are mostly no longer available (H870 and WXR), and the supply for these loads is being exhausted. However, I have excellent results with a charge of 61.5 grains of RL22. It produces sub-MOA groups with a velocity slightly greater than 2800 fps. I have us ed Magnum in the past, as well. A charge of 71.0 grains yielded a velocity of 2850 +/- 14 fps. To date, never had a moose walk away from being hit with a 175 grain bullet.

I have used 22 and 7828 in the 7 Rem Mag with 175’s but haven’t ever tried 26. I have no doubt it’ll make good speed though. I bet it’ll trump just about everything else. Retumbo is another one that’ll work along with H1000.

The 175 Partition kicked out about 2900 or so really is a one load/cartridge for anything. You’d have to move way up in caliber to best it in my opinion. I think the 175’s are what separate the 7 mags from the 270/30-06 sorta ballistics.

Hello sir and welcome! The last 7mm Mag I worked with had a 26" barrel, but I wanted to try R26 (160) and R33 (175) I used Sierra 160 HPBT and the 175 SBT. I got an easy 3100 with the 160 and a tad over 3000fps with R33. I can't find my notes right now, but maybe the Good Dr or someone will run some numbers for you!? Good luck to you Pard!
