M-48 Chambered in .260 Remington

I understand this chambering has a 1:9" twist barrel. I wonder if this twist is enough to stabilize the longer 140 grs AccuBond bullets.

Welcome to the forum. An 8 twist would work perhaps better to stabilize the heavier bullets, though a 9 twist could work for that particular bullet.

Definately the 8" twist will be better. Unfortunately, the M-48 is made with the 1:9" twist. Perhaps, someone with a .260R w/1:9" can chime in. Or, better yet someone from Nosler. :grin:

I have a 1in9 260.....I have had better luck with 130gr accubonds, but it shot the 140's fine.

260 rem is designed to shoot lighter bullets. 100 - 140.
I have 6.5x55 1:8 twist and i shoots 140 very very well but does not as much 100 grainers.
I talked to Bartlein Barrels and they recommended 1:9 twist if I don't plan to shoot heavier bullets than 140 gr. Lapua makes brass for it right now.

260 it is new 6.5x55 if you reload... you will enjoy it even better. Nosler's 24 inch barrel will put you to over 2700 fps with 140 gr AB.
