Well we left Arizona Sunday morning at about 1000 hours. 70 degrees and Sunny. Made the north side of Vegas by late afternoon and called it a day. Monday we drove the Great Basin highway. One of the most fascinating drives in the country. As we worked north the wind picked up and the sky was overcast. Between Wells and Jackpot, on the Idaho border it was snowing off and on. When we crossed into Idaho we learned it was snowing off and on all the way to home. Under good conditions we could have made it from twin falls Idaho to our home in about 4 hours. Snow with the freeway passes we had to travel it could be a crap shoot. Checked into a hotel at about 1600, had a great dinner and a long sleep.
Today we made it home without issue before lunch. Saw plenty of evidence between Ontario Oregon and Lagrande that folks had spent a long night in the pass. Found this herd of elk about 1/2 mile from the house on our way in. Still looks like winter behind the house.

Glad to hear you and the wife made it home safely.
There were quite a few times I had wished I would have stopped and got a motel when I was driving my truck but drove on through snow and ice storms to get to the delivery point or to get home.
The weather never worried me as much as the other drivers on the road.

Roger the last section of freeway we had to negotiate is I 84 from Ontario Oregon to Lagrande Oregon. Lot’s of curves and steep grades. The most closed, for weather related crashes, section of freeway in the country. A few years ago we would have pushed through but being retired we have 6 Saturday's and a Sunday. No reason to push it.

I'm with you Don, my road warrior days are over. Life in the fast lane no more.

I hear you Don and agree with you 100%.
Those days are long gone for me also, not because I'm uncertain of my capability's but of the skill level of others and was a main driving point when I turned in my CDL license for a class A noncommercial license.
