Well boys I finally connected today with a Whitetail Doe. Got to try out my 30-06 165 Ballistic Tip load. I was still hunting, all scent free. She stood at 65-yards, facing away looking over her back to me. All I had was a neck shot, it was lights out, Bang Flop! Will submit some pics later.

Merry Christmas Everyone,
Don

SWEET! Awesome shooting Don! Congrats on the deer! Meat should be pretty tasty! Looking forward to the pics of that BT smashing the NECK.. I am thinking there won't be much neck roast left!!!! Great job. Merry Christmas. Scotty

Congratulations on a fine shot, Don. The whitetail doe I took this fall tastes quite good. I have no doubt yours will be every bit as good.

Thanks you guys. I'll get the pics up in a few days. Scotty I didn't take a pic of the neck shot, but lets just say it was impressive. I mean the freakin thing literally disconnected the neck bone and let quite a hole. I love those Ballistic Tips, will mess around with the 165 AB in the off season.

Dr Mike,
I find Doe to be a lot more tasty than the Bucks I've seen Deer every time out with little to no shot opportunity until today. It was sweet when that moment arrived. Now for some of that Tender Loin!!

Don,

You don't have to convince me; I'll drop a doe any day. The meat is excellent. Much as I enjoy shooting a big buck, I'll take a dry doe if possible.

Don,

Congratulations on your doe. The 165 gr BT is terriffic for deer as you witnessed today.
Well done buddy.

Don,

I think you'll like the 165AB. It seams to me to be "the bullet" made for white-tail deer

Kodiak,
I really like this 165 Ballistic Tip but will give the AB a go to see how it groups compared to the BT.
I know I found the load now. It's just perfect.

I would hope that you could swap right out to the 165gr AB without to much load work at all. As much as I think BT's are useful and great bullets, the AB's do it just as well and keep trucking most of the time as well.

Although, I wanna see what that 140gr BT does in my 264!

Scotty,
I hear ya on that one. When I shot the 150 BT the AB was pretty close. The AB is one awesome bullet. Using your 264 with 140 BT, depending on the speed, I would be concerned somewhat with fragmentation. Is the AB available in 140?

Yes sir, I am shooting the 140 AB right now outta the 264 at around 3200. It is a great bullet. Still gotta put it into jugs, but I plan on working with the 264WM further this year when I get the scope sorted out and I think the 140 BT will make a great alternate and if they shoot decent with the same load, it'll make for a less expensive alternate for long range practice vs shooting the 140 AB's. Those don't seem to go on sale very often so I try to hoard what I do have. I believe the new BT is a copy of the AB, so we shall see when they come out. They have are a long bullet, so I will see what they do in the jugs later on in the year... Providing Nosler gets them out this year in time. Scotty

Don,
Congrats on the doe.
I will shoot a doe anyday before a buck.
Horns are hard to chew. :)

Couldn't believe the taste difference when I shot a Doe last year vs a Buck on table fare. Up till last year it had been 10 plus years since I had shot a Doe.

Scotty,
I got ya. I developed my 165 load with the BT as it is less money vs the AB. I may mess around some with the 180 BT in the 30-06 just for curiosity. It will be fun anyway. The 165 load is here to stay though for me. I will say though after briefly shooting some Ramshot Hunter vs the current H4350 Powder I experienced 2900 fps vs the 2840 fps I'm currently getting with BT. I may revisit that again sometime.

I hear alot of great things about Hunter in the 30-06. Probably worth checking out for certain. Scotty
