I've used Miles Gilbert to bed a couple rifles. I think it is more user friendly than the Acraglass and Accragel. It has all you need in one kit to bed two rifles and you can use it for odds and ends stuff like glassing a recoil pad to your stock, etc. As far as tips, make sure you relieve enough wood and rough it up good for a good bond. Use plenty of release agent, tape, and clay on the metal. Clear shoe polish or Johnson's paste wax also works very good for this, just be sure to get every tiny spot so it doesnt stick or fill anything you don't want filled/stuck. I use two layers of painters tape to tape the sides, bottom, and front of the recoil lug and also tape the barrel to ensure it stays free-floated. The key is you want to end up with a stress free bedding job. Of course, you will wax up your action screws and bottom metal. I use cotton balls to make sure I get it in the threads real good. After I've applied the bedding, I snug everything down relatively snug and torqued. I then run a hair dryer which helps speed up the bonding/chemical reaction time for it to set up and then I let it sit for a couple hours. After this, I loosen they are still removable lol and then I just run them back in finger tight so I know they aren't adding stress/pressure to the bedding and let it sit for a day to cure. After a day, you can pop the barreled action out granting you used enough release agent on EVERYTHING. Wait a few days and take it to the range. The first one was a little scarey but the next one's were much easier. Good luck!
Put two coats of release agent everywhere the glass will touch and three coats where you are sure the glass won't touch!!!!!!! Remove the trigger and scope or make sure they are protected, don't forget to apply releasing agent on the trigger guard and it's screws.Rick.
as you can imagine im a little nerves about this bedding project :? but im a cheapskate so i dont want to pay for a smith to do it  im gonna wait till this weekend so i will have plenty of time to go slow and hopefully do it right,,,, thanks for the feed back,,,,
The measurement is in inch pounds, not foot lbs and depends on the gun. I wouldn't worry to much about it but just get them pretty snug but not real tight for the first hour or two then back them out and turn them in finger tight. Oh and another thing I forgot to mention...tape up the sides of your stock so as the bedding seeps it won't get on the stock, and it will seep a little when you sandwich it down and it cures.
When you are putting on the multiple coats of release agent, make sure to let the layer below completly dry before you put on the next coat. Lesson learned the hard way
