so a while back I bought a tap so that I could make my own Modified cases to use on my stoney point OAL tool........ I bought it on ebay. $7 shipped. 5/16X36.
So last night I took a freshly fired 325wsm case, de-capped, drilled the hole, tapped it. PERFECT!
LOOKED GREAT!!!!!!
until I try to thread it on my tool..... no bueno.....
the threads on my tool are much finer than the hole I just tapped, so I grabbed a thread guage to check my new tap!!!! well, it's indeed 36tpi. the only guage that fits the threads on my tool is a metric .7 (that means .7 milimeters between threads)
so either the 5/16X36 is just completly wrong, or stoney/hornady changed thread sizes somewhere along the line????? I have 4 different modified cases all bought at different times that fit just fine, so I'm a little confused??????? help?
