Dan just reported that his nephew took the first moose in their hunt this fall.

He'll be along when he gets home to give us some particulars.

Congratulations on a nice bull moose!
Looks like they will be able to load that one up in the back of a pick up with a front end loaded.
Thats the way to do it.

Having taken a few moose, I can testify that any mechanical advantage is a plus when loading those critters. The same goes for bison.

Man I want a moose.

Congrats!!!!

Boy Howdy Fotis I'm with you. That is the one and only animal I would pay a guide to hunt.

There are some superb guides and territories here in British Columbia and the Yukon. They are not cheap; they are, however, great hunts with high success rates.

Mike I'm saving my penny's. I'm sure I'm the odd man out on this but I could care less about big horn sheep, mnt goat, bear, ect... but the thought of a moose hunt gets me all horned up.

Well, Bill, should you ever come this direction, I can help some on costs as you are welcome to camp out with me.

Mike that alone would make the trip worth while for me. That is a kind offer and may very well take you up on that, all I got to do is drive north.

Nice Bull :) ..Congrats!..My hunt is 6 weeks away  ...I can't wait  ..Lou..Gonna have some Newfy screech!...Should be fun just being there

Nice bull...can't wait to get back to Ontario and have a go at another bull. As was said earlier, that looks like a "drive the front end loader and flat bed out to the flield" jobs.

My ex-wife grew up on a farm in NW Minnesota where they were constantly going through the fences. Her dad was always cussing out the moose and wanting me to put in for a tag. That would have been like shooting one of his cows in the pasture. Now there isn't even a season in the NW part of the state, only in the NE.

Where Mike lives there is some of the best moose hunting in B.C. it would be worth seeing what the outfitters in the area are charging.

Looking forward to the details of the moose hunt, very nice looking bull there.

I've never seen one down in such an accessible location. I think this pic was either photoshopped or staged.

Nice bull. I do miss hunting the bogs and broccoli fields of Maine.

Well guys I am back. We had 5 tags and last night we had the 3 Moose down. My nephew, a young girl named Mackenzie got her first moose & her dad Rob got his. That made 3 bulls down. Yesterday morning Mackenzie shot a button bull (calf) & then Rob got a nice bull yesterday right around 5:00pm.
I was not there for Rob's bull last evening but I know that he shot the bull in the approximate area that my nephew Austin shot his :)
We had hunted hard as in mornings we drove the farm land & then during afternoons we went in the bush & called. Then last hour we drove again. Well Friday we just started to drive when we caught that bull in a grain field only 150 yards off the trail :).
We got out & I knelt down to shoot but could not because of the willow bushes along the trail so stood back lined up but blew over top of him. The bull did not know what happened as a second later my nephew nailed him using his 7mm mag & a 160gr AccuBond.
The bull stood up on its hind legs and fell over
Well we then realized there was no access to this field except through the farmer's yard so we went to the yard were the young guy was stacking bales. As my nephew talked with him he asked where we were from & now it shows how small the world is  after small talk we found out he is originally from a small town in southern Saskatchewan about 400 miles south of where we were. Austin ask him if he knew a guy & the farmer stated yes. Well this guy was Austin's calf roping coach when he was in highschool. Well he then stated he would use the tractor to load the moose in the back of my nephew's truck. This likely saved us at least 3 hours of work as we would have had to go back to the farm and get our equipment to load the big guy (butcher weighed bull @ 543lbs).
Next morning went back the farmer ( Reagan) had phoned his friend back home and Reagan then gave us permission to hunt all their land which is a real bonus.
I believe I have photos sent to me of the other bulls so I will try to get them on the forum:)

Blessings,
Dan

Guys, just letting you know I taking a lot of ribbing about my new rifle and the fact that it is a very expensive skunk rifle  as I can't hit anything else
Also a lot of talk about me having OTD ( Old Timers Disease )
Well it is not over as I have this coming weekend to go back and there is a 2 week season staring November 1st.
I am just starting to dig in

Blessings,
Dan

OTD are we, Dan! Don't let them get you down. we old guys can still outshoot most of the young guys that I see at the local range certainly. I take solace from that myself.
