I have about 200# of moose meat left over from a hunt last year. It is vac. packed and still tastes as fresh as it did a year ago. How much longer do you think that meat will last? Anyone have any good stories of "old meat"?

My stuff is vacuum sealed and it lasts about 3 years. I do not keep it longer than that.

I have had vacuum packed meat that was 1.5 yrs old and it was fine. It never last that long in our house!

OK I was getting worried with the 15 year thing!

I also have had moose kept for up to 1.5 years. Usually, however, it does not last beyond a year. By the following season, my freezer is cleaned out. Vacuum packed, I would expect it to keep easily for several years.

Found elk meat in my freezer that was vacuum sealed and four years old....tasted as fresh as the stuff I ate years earlier. According to the paperwork with the sealer, meat is supposed to last TWO YEARS when vacuum sealed.
