My training regimen will have me carrying 140 pounds for an hour on an incline by hunting season.

Hi Vince, the training and stuff is great no doubt, but to be honest, if your hunting Newfoundland, I won't worry to much about a back pack pal, your moose well come out of the woods in 1 piece :) ..I'll tell ya first hand, those guys are well prepared, and most likely well use the J5 to get your moose out real fast (y)

the outfitter I used when we hunted moose in Newfoundland used UTV trucks . I think it was a 6 wheel Polaris . you are right they have the recovery down , no problem there . my guys used a chain saw to quarter the moose , and hauled it out on the quad-truck .

if I can offer a little advice ; when training wear heavy boots . the area I hunted was swampy . every step had me pulling my foot up out of ankle deep , or more , muck . when I was getting ready for the hunt I wore my heaviest hunting boots with ankle weights trying to toughen up my legs , I also carried my loaded backpack . I hunted just off the gros morne national park border .

Vince that is some workout regime, if you don't get in shape doing that something is terribly wrong. I might as well be a couch potato in what my workout curtails compared to that .
You can't be in to good of shape for hunting.

Blessings,
Dan

Thanks Dan.
I'm trying. Just got off the treadmill. :)
Half hour, 1 mile, on incline, 67 pounds. I'll take tomorrow off. Then back at it for two more days. I wear my hunting boots when I'm working out, La Sportiva Karakorum lightweight mountaineering boots.
