Well last night I was talking about going out and trying to get a yote.... My Kiddo started jumpin up
and down saying he wanted to go along, and getting out of bed early wasn't a big deal.
So last moment preparation....( it's been below 0 every night for roughly a week now ) We cut up an old self manufactured game sack, pulled his .22 out and we're set.
I woke him up @ 5:00 a.m. this morning and we're off... it's about a 35mile drive to where we go set up.
We saw 3 yotes this mornning.... I could have shot one @ 150yds, but was determined to get him called in closer so my Kiddo could see him up close and personal. ( Normal yote issues, it didn't happen and probably saw us moving )
None the less, great time this morning and even better with my Son wanting to tag along in the cold weather... he did good and we had a heat wave

this morning, it was a whoppin 5 degrees.

Powerstroke, It's great to have a kid that likes this kind of thing. Most kids, now days, would rather stay home and play computer games! My granddaughter is hitting my son and I up to elk hunt this next year, sometimes things just go right!

Powerstroke,

That is a great account. Wonderful that your son wanted to go and that you took time to make it good for him. Give him a couple of years, and he will be pulling you out of bed to go coyote hunting.

Mark -
Great to see that you had the young man out! We are dealing with the same kind of temps as you.

Were you calling or just spoting and stocking? Had one bust me earlier this week that I called in and stopped about 150 yards out down wind of me. couldn't figure out where I was, but he caught some strange smells that he didn't like.

Great to see that you were out with your boy. What is that commercial about priceless? That memory will always be there.
Talking about cold last night we had minus 50 something with the wind chill.
Last year we had the same weather for almost the whole winter oh yea winter does not start until December 21. I am sorry to say but I could use a little global warming

Again keep taking these young people out and pouring into their lives.

Blessings,
Dan

Thanks Guys.... it's a blast having him out and even better that he wants to come along... he'll be 7 at the end of Jan. A lot of work getting enough clothes on them to make sure they stay warm and have a good time.. along with ATTEMPTING to keep them quiet and still / patient... certianly can't expect them to at that age... none the less it's a blast !!

I'm glad we dont' see those kind of temps here... we're back in the mid 40's now. I'm headed back up here shortly.
The place I have is a one set wonder as it's just a little corner in the property that has any cover for them. It's actually on a dairy and I'm able to hunt the compost pile basically which = the same place some of the dead cows end up.
I'll be happy with just one, but going to attempt to be extremely patient tonight and put the Accubonds to the test... there gets to be several of them fighting for the same area / food... it would certianly help my shooting percentage to take two with one AccuBond  wishfull thinking I know, but think the .257 bee should be able to do it if the chance araises.....

Thanks again !

Well done Dad! Great to hear your attitude. Keep it up, if you end up makin' a snowman with that little man its all good. I think he's hooked...CL

That is so cool! My first should be here in a few weeks, I hope she will want to go do stuff like that with me someday!

Great picture! It sure does look cold!! That is so much fun. I had my son out with me when he was that age and younger too. He loved it. I used to let him work the squeeker when they got withing about 150 yards. If it isn't too windy, they hear that thing and come on a string for you. It's pretty cool. The squeeker I have is just a black rubber bulb with a small reed on the end. You just squeeze it quickly and she sounds just like a mouse. My son felt like a big-shot getting to HELP in calling them in. What was neat was the very first time I had him with me, I had a coyote show up after my second sequence, and she was about 150 yards away. Only just a hint of a breeze blowing. Jeff asked if he should squeek to her, and I told him to go ahead. The coyote came right in and tried to get the wind right at the end. She was out of sight just over a small fold in the hill below us. When she appeared, she wasn't but about 30 feet away! He's never forgotten that. Of course he never forgets the one time I called a coyote in and I didn't let him shoot at about 150 yards as I wanted to get it closer to him for an easier shot. I held him up, and then when the coyote did get to about 25 yards (never stopped), he never ended up with a shot. I hear about that one as well quite often! What fun though. :)
