Morons in Congress

WOW what an idiot. THe Admiral did a very good job at not just burting out in laughter. Makes me wonder about the people that elected this moron. What state does he represent?

Congressman Hank Johnson, Democrat Representing the 4th District of Georgia

Jim,

I watched this clip yesterday, and all I could think was, "Where do they find these idiots?" The people of Atlanta really can't boast about the quality of representation; but, then, few walking the hallowed halls of Congress or the Senate distinguish themselves by intelligence.

As an aside, his staff now says he was only trying to emphasise that the island might become overpopulated. Not even a quality spin on their part.

Mike,

He was trying to describe Guam in square miles of land stating the island is 24 miles long by 12 miles wide at its widest point and 7 miles wide at its narrowest point and than asked the question of how many square miles the island is.

Simple math would say 24 x 10 = 240 square miles of land mass. DUH!

Pretty scary to think these kind of people make decisions for our "Best Interest".

Oh my... An elected representative...

I'm amazed the Admiral didn't laugh in his face, or simply knock him out.

“I wasn’t suggesting that the island of Guam would literally tip over,” said Johnson. “I was using a metaphor to say that with the addition of 8,000 Marines and their dependents —an additional 80,000 people during peak construction on the tiny island with a population of 180,000 — could be a tipping point which could adversely affect the island’s fragile ecosystem and could overburden its stressed infrastructure. Having traveled to Guam last year, I saw firsthand how this beautiful — but vulnerable island — could easily become overburdened, and I was simply voicing my concerns —albeit with a dry sense of humor — that the addition of that many people could tip the delicate balance and do permanent harm to Guam.”

This is Hank Johnson's response to the exposure he received. Frankly, the explanation makes matters worse. If he is incapable of expressing himself, how can he represent his constituency intelligibly? What is evident is that he did not "misspeak," but rather exposed his ignorance.

Mike,

You nailed it!

Admiral Willard conducted himself as exemplar in refusing to respond with derision to the stupidity of Hank Johnson. I hesitate to speak of Mr. Johnson as a Representative, as that can only demean the good people of Georgia.

AND THESE PEOPLE NOT ONLY LEAD OUR COUNTRY but vote themselves raises.

If the cameraman wouldn't have said "gotcha", I think he would have been able to get some real quality video.

I think this current administration is really running scaard for this November. I just hope the American citizens do the right thing and vote them ALL out of office.
They are all ready set for lives with their tax payer funded pensions.......

JD338

Perhaps after a new House and Senate are elected (please, God), laws can be passed that will retroactively adjust the pension of those who have been "dismissed" as they "adjusted" the payment schedule of GM and Chrysler bonds held by various pensioners.

To be ready for such a crisis, I propose training large whales to be ready to push the island upright again there by saving billions of lives.
Also another idea of mine that is HIGH time to be mandated by law is to force travelers to use the bathroom on the east coast before flying to the west coast. This would reduce the weight on that crack in CA and help prevent CA from snapping off, reducing the need and cost to train more whales.
