MOUNTAIN GOAT TAG AFTER 33 YEARS!

Congrats David -
Can I go along to carry your shooting iron :) ? Some of my favorite country to hunt. I have been putting in for sheep in that area for 12 years.

Congratulations man! Sounds like it will be a great time.

This hunt justifies that .280 you have been wanting doesn't it?

It certainly is occasion to splurge on a .280, or perhaps a Nosler Custom .280 Ackley??

Not a better time to get your new 280! Although, your 25-06 should be just about awesome with the PT's as well. Scotty

257 yes, you can carry my iron! You guys are awful! 280 this, 280 that.......what's a guy to do? It is tempting but I think I'm going to have to stick to my guns  for right now and just use what I have. Maybe next year I can get that 280 Remington.

The light bulb just went on! How about if I "help" my son get his new 300 WSM scoped up and use it if he'll let me? He'll be ready to go for fall, and I get to use his rifle!! Model 70 Extreme Weather SS, 180 gr. Accubonds, 4.5-14x40 Leupold B&C reticle... I think I'm having the vapors oh my!

Actually, the 300 WSM would be a great rifle for goat. I know that bullets through the boiler will kill goats, but they have an incredible way of stumbling around until they find a sharp precipice to topple over. I like to see them put down quickly. You can get lucky and have a twenty yard shot, but it is also possible that you'll be forced to take a long shot. When the bullet connects, you want enough juice to put these critters down quickly. The 300 WSM would certainly fill the bill.

I think that is a great idea, I was going to mention it before, but I didn't cause I wasn't sure if the son would let you!!!

That would probably be a sweet set up for Goats in the Mountains. Scotty

David, no need to convince me at all buddy. You send me an FFL and I'll send you plenty of ammo and a M70 264WM for that goat! It would be my pleasure! I will even make sure the B&C is properly shooting out to 600 for you! Scotty

David,
Congrats on the tag buddy. Hope to see pics of the trophy you take after the hunt.
Best of luck.

Don
