A few days ago, I asked for input on your go to bullet/powder loads. It gave me a lot to think about and now maybe too much. If only loading one bullet choice, which weight/make bullet do you feel is best for deer and elk?

I'm thinking maybe 150 Partition; if a 150 AccuBond were available, it would be my first choice I think. I'm all ears!

For deer, 140 gr AB. For both Elk and deer, 150 gr PT or 160 gr AB.

Don't they have a 150 E-Tip in a 7mm? I am really impressed with they way they are coming out of my 338. Second choice would be a 160 AB. It has a great BC and would have plenty of energy. The 140 AB would be my third choice.

Any will work so whichever the gun shoots the best.

I wish Nosler would make a 150gr AB.
I like the 140 ab alot but if one all around bullet is what you want try a Hornady 154gr Interbond.

Here is one I shot out of my ncr 280ai into water filled milk jugs. I recovered it in the 6th jug. The shot was about 30 yds away.

In the 7mm I can't imagine any better one bullet choice than the 160 AB. Thats the only bullet I load in my 7mm Rem mag now and I've gotten a pretty good stockpile of seconds from the pro shop, including some really cool lookin ones with red tips.

My .280 likes the 140 and the 160 AccuBond equally well. The 160's just shot a 1 inch group for me on Sunday at 200 yards. Hard to beat that.

Decisions,decisions and more decisions....................

Lemme see,if I had to choose one bullet for my 280 I think I'd rather be heavy for caliber on deer than light on elk.(Realize I'm in Texas and deer here are killed every season with 223s)

Elk is some big tough critters as I'm sure you know.I think a 150 PT or a 160 AB would be good medicine in either case.

Oh and by the way IMHO,life is too short to have crappy hunting gear, drink cheap whiskey, and only one handload.
