Multiple rifles in the same caliber?

I have six .22LR rifles. - 10/22s in different configurations, an Anschutz bolt-action, and a couple of autoloaders that look like an AR and an MP5. Other than the Anschutz and those threaded for suppressor, they are plinkers.

I have twelve .223s. - mostly AR15s in different configurations, a single-shot T/C, and a couple of bolt-action varminters.

I have a couple of .270s.
I have a couple of .308 Wins.
I have a couple of .300 WinMags.

Oddly, the guns I hunt with most (.243AI, .30-06, .375H&H, etc.), I only have one of. :!:

I didn't need all those ARs but after moving to 'Free America', it was something I could do. (y)

The others were 'targets of opportunity' - being left-handed, i would buy rifles as I found them.

Oh, and I have six handguns in 45 ACP.

I have a problem.

Well, lessee...

I have the custom Mauser .30-06 that my wife's grandfather built for me. Would never get rid of it, but when a golden opportunity to buy a 1960's Mannlicher-Schoenauer MCA came along, I couldn't pass that up.

I have a Mossberg 146B .22 that was my grandfather's, made back in the late 40's or early 50's. It's a good-shooting rifle and I'd like to keep it in operation, so I bought a second one in good working condition, just in case. I also have a semi-auto Ted Williams, which is like the one I had as a kid.

I bought a Marlin XS7 .243 and was impressed by how good it shot (especially for the price), so I bought one for my son. And then when Marlin discontinued them, I bought another...again, just in case.

I have a .50 Cabelas Hawken muzzleloader, and a .50 Traditions Vortek. Same caliber, but totally different at the same time.

I have 2 12-gauge shotguns, an old Mossberg 500 pump and a Lanber semi.

I have 2 .40 pistols, a Colt Gov't Series 80, and a Glock 23.

It's easier to just list the ones that I only have one of:

AR-15
Remington 788 .22-250
Marlin 57M .22 mag
Russian SKS
SCCY 9mm
Russian 9mm Mak.
Henry .45-70

They all have their place, and they all get used, to varying degrees. And, they're worth having. That's all the justification I need. :)

If your talking, in the family, then we have at least a half dozen 300 H & H and possibly that many 6.5 x 55 Swedes, the 450/400 double is popular in our family as well. We dont have ( except for my dad's collection of old winchesters and weatherbys) a great variation of calibers as a lot of you fellows have.

Reason: they are popular calibers, easy to travel with, easy to remember what they can do to what, friends of all sizes, shapes, genders, and age can use them, as they are not body slammers. The fellow that does our reloading and maintence of the rifles can focus on a smaller number of calibers and most important it is what my mother, my mothers mother, and us girls grew up using.

Best Regards

I have 6 rifles in 30-06. An Interarms MK X my day gave me at age 8. Three Garands and two 03A3s
Three 308s. A Tikka bolt gun, a 700 VSSF and an M1A.
Two lever guns in 45 Colt.
6 various 22 long rifles.
Two 280s, a 280 AI and a 7STW
A 264WM and a 260 AI
There are 4 ARs in 223/5.56 and a Tikka bolt gun in 223 in the safe.
I own 5 1911s in 45ACP
Three Glocks in 40 S&W and a Browning Hi Power in 40
At least 3 357 revolvers
9 single action Colts in 45 Colt
Probably eighteen 12 gauges.
8 16 gauges.
5 20 gauges.
I never sell guns, only buy or trade for more.

Oh and I'm driving to Abilene on Sunday to purchase another Garand.

I just thought about the 44 Mags.
Marlin 1894
S&W 629 Classic 6 3/8" barrel
S&W 629 3" barrel
Ruger 77/44 (Sue)

JD338

3 280's
1 300 rum
1 338 rum
1 338 win
1 30 06
1 22 250
2 50 cal smoke poles
0 308 no use for them
0 270 another goose egg
and maybe tomorrow a 7mm rem

I have two 30-06 rifles. One was a gift from my parents back in the 70's and the other is my wife's dad's rife who passed away when she was two. Both have sentimental ties.
I did sell a rifle in 308 because I had a 7mm-08 that I liked better. They were close enough that they felt kind of like duplicates.

Used to have three different .308's, for three different puposes:

20" Browning BLR, general purpose hunting
24" Krieger barreled Rem 700 for SWAT (also hunted and shot competition with it)
30" Krieger barreled Win 70 match/palma rifle for competition

It was kind of interesting, seeing how the three very different rifles performed. The Winchester match rifle is long gone now, but I still have the other two .308's.

And, there's a pair of .30-06's here, as well as a pair of .223's.

Not a lot of duplication, but some.

Guy

2 223 Rem
5 22 LR
2 357 Mag rifles
2 50 cal muzzleloaders

Had 2 30-06 gave one to my nephew, the other is now a 25-06.
Too many handguns in the same caliber to list.
Justified??? Maybe

5-22lr
4-12ga
1-17
1-223
2 -243 win
2-6mm rem
1-270 win
2 - 7mmRM
2-308 win
1 -300 win
1-300 Bee

Lots of overlap , want to add a 444 or 45-70.
Also would like a win 88 in 308 like my grandfather had. And a savage99 in 250/3000, like my uncle had.

Let's see...
2 - 223/5.56 one semi-auto, one bolt gun
2 - 25-06 one is a first-year production 700 ADL that I re-stocked in maple, gave it to my Dad when he complained his 30-06 kicked too much to enjoy shooting it. I got it back after he passed (and I'd give it up in a second just to have a chance to sit and talk with him for an hour). The other was the first one I 'built'. picked it up in a pawn shop for $125, re-barreled with a Douglas and paid good money for a walnut stock.
3 22 rimfire rifles
4 22 rimfire handguns
3 243's one lever and 2 bolt guns
Think that's about it.

I'm not as sick as you all!

My son has 2 - 6mm Remingtons. A model 600 I gave him when he was a little guy, and Ruger MKII.

I have two 6mm Remingtons also. My Ruger #1B and a Model 700 I got from my father when he passed away.

Oh crap I just remembered I have two .40 S&W's. A four in XD-40 and a sub-compact XD-40. But you see I really needed two of those. One was for regular carry and one is for concealed carry. See that I really did need two!

I have 4 .22lr, a Remington single shot given to me when I was 12 yrs old by my parents. Winchester 61, family rifle, Remington nylon 66, and a Ruger 10/22, my wife's woodchuck gun.

I now have 3 30-06's, first a Remington 700 CDL, then added a Montana ASR, both are left handed.
Last but not least I just added a nice Ruger Number 1A in 30-06. Beautiful wood and appears to have been in a collection, maybe only test fired at the factory. Waiting on weather to improve and my local gun smith to finish mounting the scope. Depending on how it shoots it may be just a bench rifle until I get it tuned in, or if it is a shooter it could me my fair weather elk and deer rifle.

All the rifles at my house are technically mine as they are licensed in my name I paid for them however my son's call them theirs .
I have the following in duplicate !

5-12 gauge shotguns
3- 22s
3- 270wins
2-223s
2- 30-30s
Again I have a real tough time selling any rifle.

Blessings,
Dan
