I have found Lilgun with the CCI 500 small pistaol primer to be the best hornet load going (as listed by Speer).

I am using between 12.4grs and 12.7grs depenting on which bullet and seating depths. I have a CZ527 with what I beleve is a 1:16 twist so I picked short bullets to try. All use CCI 500 primers that is a MUST fed 205' s are over pressure even at starting loads.

12.5grs Lilgun, 45gr Speer SP, 2830fps@1.725OCL, and 2970fps long seated for my gun.
12.7grs lilgun, 40gr Berger HPV, 2980fps long seated.
12.4grs Lilgun, 40gr Sierra SP,2870fps@ 1.725OCL. 12.6 did 3000fps but accuracy was bad 2.00" groups not SMOA as my other loads.

That little Hornet would be a cool rifle to have for close range yotes around houses and such. Post a picture up TJEN if you get a chance. How do you like the CZ? Scotty

Lil gun is all I use in the hornet also tjen, 40gr btips and a 40 gr hp barns used to make shot great out to 175 yds with an encore pistol with a 14" Bbl  n Now Im working with a 34 gr hp from midway that shows a lot of promise

I have always thought the 22 Hornet is the perfect coyote rifle for urban sprawl sets.

You are on it Jim. Heck, even for heavily wooded areas, where you aren't dealing with big crop fields, I would think it would have plenty of oomph for 200 yard shots if needed. Plus, being a CF, it would probably be cheaper to shoot than a 22 mag. Scotty

Just about perfect for calling bobcat.

Its report is a lot quieter compared to other centerfire rounds which helps when houses are in the vacinity, doesnt make the neigbours nervous

I am on vacation and using a friends computer and I just have internet access at work. And almost any site that has a word like bullet or hunting is resticked I could not even bring up the remington edition SILVERADO and yep I work at GM.

The CZ527 has Calhoon low rings and a VXII 3-9x33mm EFR just for close CAT and Yote hunting. I use the single shot carrier by calhoon as well as the modifed bolt handle but I think for the leupold it is not needed. I would like a modifed magazine to handle the long OCL my gun realy likes. Just need a cridder large than the griund squirrals to walk in front of it.

To the liberal mind, bullets and hunting are dangerous. Such activities threaten their agenda. The 22 Hornet is a delightful little cartridge.

Tjen, that sounds like a great rifle. I really hope you get to hunt with it. I actually like the 22 Hornet more than rimfires, for me they are more fun to shoot and I can spend some more time in the reloading room. Scotty

I realy love the micro length action and may order a 222rem in it some time. There are lots of 223 and I beat the varmit barreled 527's are realshooters. Mine is the american with std 21.9" barrel. The 527 has a 90 degree bolt through and comes with high rings just to clear the ocular bell on most scopes. Thats why I bought the calhoon rings. Their very very well made as good or better than most other rings. With A Leupold scope you may not need the modified bolt handle. James con tell you which ring heigth for each scope and if the mod bolt handle is needed.

I just finished loading 150 rounds of 22 Hornet for my TC Encore. It is 24" with a 3-9 bushnell trophy. The load I've found to shoot well and will be used for fox to coyote is: 45 Hornady SP "Hornet", WSP primer, R-P brasss, 13.0 Lil' Gun, 1.750" 2750 FPS. It is a real joy to shoot and very quite; just a fun little cartridge!
