Got the replacment parts for the, Williams reciever sight.
Not much of a trick to install them but I had to take the sight all apart, but it went back together about as good as I could hope for.
Still waiting for the dies, and brass from huntingtons.
Looking through some drawers I found a decent scope I forgot I had. It is a baisch & loumb 1.5X6 by20.
I have a set of leupold QD rings, and I orderd some weaver bases for the .358-Model 99 also. So, If I decide to scope it all I need will be here and ready.
Here are a few pics.

Looking very good indeed. I am excited about you reloading and shooting it. You will have a lot of fun with that 99. If Savage made them again I would be the first in line.

Very nice! Looking forward to your range report.
What load are you thinking of?

I second Bullets comment about if they made them again, I would be standing in line to plunk my money down. That aperture sight looks really good on that rifle. You should be able to shoot pretty well with that out to some distance. Seems like a great rifle. That was a great score. I am also waiting to hear how it shoots. It will be a deadly package with a scope and the sight on it. Scotty

Or Eastern Deer and Black Bear! I bet that would be a great carrying rifle for trampsing through the hills around Upstate NY. Scotty

I like that back sight setup, it will make it hard to decide to use it or a scope if it shoots well with that back sight.

There is something indescribably attractive about the Model 99. That one certainly catches the eye, and since it chambered in such a great calibre, you have scored a real steal.

Thans for all the positive feedback.
As I am off work waiting to have my back operated on, I am likly to chomping at the bit for the FED EX man to come. Need my brass and dies to get started.
It will be fun just to play with the length till the cartridge feeds smoothly.
Gonna start with a fairly light load of either W-748 or IMR-4064 pushing a 200 grain Hornady spire point.
I want to find a better front sight. Gold or Ivory bead.
No fiber optic. My smith will likly have one.

You should be able to get a light load that still beats a 35 Rem. Plus, no one has ever really complained on how a 35 Rem kills game. Those big round noses should do a number on game up close. Scotty

Try Varget for an lite 358win load. Use the rem 200gr CLRN for about 2340fps +/- 40fps. This should be a great close in hammer for deer.

I load the 35rem to 2180fps for my 336 and it works great! And that corelokt will handle more speed.

BK,
For most of my smithing needs i go out to forest grove and see H&K gunsmithing. The man there is Kurt Mullen.
Excelent guy and does a fine job at a fair price.

I think I've been to that shop a time or two. I think I was discussing whether it would be feasable to build a .284 on a Remington M7. With my short atention span, it's not surprising that I put it on the back burner, and have since forgotten about it.
