My Brother in law's sheep from Laborday weekend

WOW! That is an AWESOME RAM!
Try to get some details for us Lar... How far? Bullet performance?
I don't think you can beat the performance/accuracy/trigger quality of a Tikka for the price. 8)

Outstanding! Please pass on our congratulations. Great looking ram, and the hunter is grinning appropriately! I think I'd be grinning for a week or two afterwards.

Two of my brother in laws live out in Wyoming. Obviously the one in the pic had the license, the other had the binocs, spotting scope and camera  .

A friend from the local area was going to show Nelson the unit and the day before that scouting trip the guy had a heart attack. So they went up to their hunt unit basically blind.

Of course there are a lot of details, but basically after spending some time wearing down shoe leather and lots of glassing they saw, I think, 7 rams. All were bedded across a ravine/canyon from the boys. They waited 2 hours for the big ram to stand and the shot was 350 yds (previously verified with a range finder). Note here * * * Nelson has lived and hunted out west for over 20 years and said he would have never guessed that distance. To him it looked more like 600 yds but with multiple rangings at 350 yds he took the shot.

The big ram, along with the others, took off running but after a short sprint did a couple of cartwheels and went off of a cliff and down a chute. If you look at my 1st posting you can see the blood trail of the sliding and tumbling sheep. The shot was at about noon, and it took them the rest of the day to pack it out. . . most of it up hill of course. He said the terrain was so steep that often they had to be down on all fours to climb up with the meat etc...

As far as bullet performance, Nelson wanted to use 140 Accubonds out of his Tikka 270WSM for this hunt and an upcoming elk hunt, and why not as they shot 1/2" groups and had a reputation with others that he talked to about what a great bullet they are. He said the internal damage was phenominal. He has pics of the exit hole etc... but has not yet sent them to me.

Beautiful, beautiful, Long, pass along my congratulation. I've been applying for Big Horn hunt here in California for several years now and so far no luck.
