My first remington is a .204 Ruger 700 SPS Varmint that I have restocked in a Stocky's thumbhole laminate with the aluminum bedding block. She's a little under ten lbs unloaded. I've adjusted the trigger to 2.5 lbs and it feels just right. This rifle will be a dedicated sage rat rifle. I'm just breaking in the rifle and haven't started any bench work yet. I mounted my VX3 6.5 - 20 (with the varmint reticle) on her, bore sighted and went outside to touch one off just to start the break in and hit a 2" rock at 50 yds that I was aiming at offhand  . Can't wait to start the bench work! I've got loads worked up with 32gr v-maxs and 40gr BTs using Tac,W748,H335,BLC2 and 8208. Let the fun begin!

Try the 35 grain Bergers as well. That is what my 204 Cooper really likes with Benchmark powder.

Sweet looking rifle...I have the same scope on mine.

Looks like a sweet shooting rifle. Thanks for sharing the picture.

The .204 and sage rats just go together real well don't they?

I think you're going to give that little Remmy a real workout... Looks like a dandy varmint rifle. BLC2 has worked out real well for me with both the 40 gr bullets and the 35 gr Bergers.

Nice rifle... Nice zebra skin!

muleman,

Wow, nice rifle! Great picture too.

If it shoots half as good as it looks, you'll have one fine shoting rifle for sure!

I have the same rifle in a McMillan A3 Sporter stock. Mounted a Redfield 4-12x on it, to tide me over until I make up my mind on a VX3 6.5-20x50 30mm, or a Zeiss Conquest 1" 6.5-20x50. It is eventually going to have a Jewell trigger in it, set to about one pound.

I get 4225 fps with the 32 V max out of my Ruger #1V

Very nice rifle. That stock looks AWESOME. Can't wait to hear how it shoots.

Joel is still pushing on me to get a proper varmint rifle and that 204 looks like a great choice. Just hard for my big fingers to handle those little cases! I am looking forward to seeing your load work. Scotty
