Nearly a decade in the making!

Great looking rifle! Really like the classy lines. I bet that thing kills at both ends though!

Very nice rifle. The stock looks great.
Nicely done. Good things are worth waiting for. :)

I like the new, lower, lines of the stock. Very classy looking, and that recoil pad had to be a great idea! :)

Ya, I like the "cock on closing" as well, but Dad had ours converted to "cock on opening" twenty years ago and the original parts from the rifle are nowhere to be found.

I have 5 coats of boiled linseed oil on the stock now. It leaves a great satin finish with that warm lovely feel only a rubbed oil finish can provide. Last set of pictures, I promise! Until there is a dead critter in them.

Looks quite lovely. Never apologise around this crowd for pictures of a firearm, especially one that was a hands-on project.

With this .458 Lott in the 1917 action, and all custom-built by you, for you...

You certainly have "enough gun" for anything!

What loads do you contemplate using with this formidable game-taker?

Rabbits? :?

Being in Alaska I don’t think I’ll need the 500+ grain bullets. My intention is to stick with 350-400gr bullets. I have a small stockpile of 350gr Speer hot-core and some 350 hornady RN. Other bullets on the short list are the 400fr swift aframe and woodliegh PP. probably going to keep them in the 2500-2600 fps range. Being dedicated open sights it won’t see service over 100-150 yards.

That 350 Speer is a great bullet. I used to run it in my Winchester 70 Lott at 2780fps. It shot surprisingly flat and hit very hard.

I actually might load up some cast bullets behind some trail boss for bunnies. I know a guy who hunts bunnies with his double rifle using trailboss loads. It’s a great way to get some field time with your big bores

I've heard good things about that 350 gr Speer... (y)

Quite a rifle you've got there. Bears will run in fear when they hear that you've left the house, with that one in hand!

I’ve found all it takes to scare away the bears is a bear tag. They must be able to smell the ink or something!
