I need a good load for my 340 Mark V 26" barrel. I tried IMR 4350 and IMR 4831 with 200 gr. Nosler CT . I haven't had much success. Any sugestions would be much appreciated .

Thanks for the info. I'm not set on 200 gr. if anyone had success with the 225 gr. AB I'm open to that to.

Your gun will perform with top loads of re22 or I7828. I have a factory 340 that loves the 250 Partition under max loads of I7828. It does 2930 fps with that bullet which makes it about as flat as a 7 mag with a 160 bullet. THATS A BIG HAMMER!!!

Thanks Kraky. The weatherby forum will be a big help. I have to get more bullets to try. I only shot the gun a couple of times, so I'll keep exsperimenting. Thanks again.

It's been my experience with the tree different 340's I've had over the years, that R-19 has been the overall best performer. I usually shoot 225-230 gr. bullets in the 340, going for the long range potential at which this cartridge excels. If memory serves, 86 gr. R 19 w/225 Nos. Partition chronoed at 3050-3070 fps and moa. I used that load for a couple of Moose and a Caribou at 150-350 yds. I bought another Lazermark about a month ago and am heading to the range this weekend to test this load. I'll keep you posted.

Also....are you aware of Noslers sale site where they sell blemished bullets at one heck of a deal??

Go Here...

http://www.shootersproshop.com/index.html

You'll see some real good deals on 250 part's for just $13.95/50.

Try and make up a good sized order for some other calibers as I think shipping starts at about $13 so a decent order pays for itself. AND, we all know that a little stock is probably a good thing cause bullet prices are only going to go up with the prices of metals, alloys, copper etc.

Brian-
These Accubonds shoot! I shot my tried and true load in my new Lazermark and I'm a happy camper. I dropped the max load by 1/2 grain
just for drill because it's a new rifle and all that. The first two shots touched at 100 yds. Since practically all my rifles are of hunting persuasion, I generally shoot three shot groups. Suffice it to say, the 340 shot sub moa, with one three shot group right at 5/8". Most were right at 1". My load was 85.5 gr, R- 19, 225 AB, Norma brass, F 215 primers. 3039 & 3036 fps. I'll probably stop right there as my old load (86 gr.) probably wouldn't gain me much. No pressure signs and comfortable recoil. I'm sure this rifle would take more but this is good enough!
Good luck with your 340. Let us know how it shoots and what loads you come up with.

I just got some 225 AB and R-19. My nosler book has max at 83.0 so I'll start right below that and work up. I hope to get out this coming weekend. I'll loet you know how I make out.

I think you will be pleased with the accuracy and performance of the 225 gr AB out of your 340 Wby. Below pics will give you an idea of what you can expect. I shoot this bullet out of a 338 RUM.

Went shooting today.Reloader 19 @83.0 shot well. My gun seemed to like the 225 gr. AB, can't wait to load more and try at 3 to 400 yards. I would show the target, but I don't how to post a picture.
