I am looking for load data for .458 Lott, 300 gr Barnes TSX Flat Base bullets using H322 or H4198 powder. Quickloads data would be great but any info will help as this type of load data is hard to find!

In Australia we call H4198 ... AR2207.

A friend and I did some playing with a locally produced monolithic prototype of 300gr weight ... me in a 458AccRel, friend in a 458Lott.

In the 458Lott ... 80gr AR2207 was pushing 2875fps ... working upto 84gr for 2925fps.

Safest bet is to always start with the maximum 458WinMag loads and just leap-frog up in 2gr increments. But somewhere between 80gr through to 85gr will probably be where you'll end up. Actually ... you can go higher but I wouldn't recommend that in somebody elses unknown rifle.
Cheers...

Thanks for the info, that is close to what I previously thought.

Thanks again,

Rhoden101,

Good to have you on board. If you have an opportunity, give a picture of your rifle and perhaps some of your cartridges. I know many people would appreciate seeing what you have. Are you hunting Africa? Or planning to hunt Africa?

I would love to go to Africa some day but don't have the means right now. That is why I am loading 300 gr bullets in the Lott, will just have to hunt elk with it for now.

Thanks again for the data,

Rhoden101

I have worked with the 350 gr TSX in my 458 Lott(s).

This is actual data

458 LOTT 350 BARNES TSX 81/H4198 2840 fps

458 LOTT 350 BARNES TSX 93/H4895 2810 fps

max loads

Results below for 458 Lott, 300 gr flat base TSX

.458 Lott, Ruger M77 II RSM

83.0 gr H4198, three shot average velocity=2820 fps (most accurate)
84.0 gr H4198, three shot average velocity=2895 fps (max load)
85.0 gr H4198, three shot average velocity=2930 fps (flattened primers)

88.0 gr H322, three shot average velocity=2885 fps (max load)
87.0 gr H322, three shot average velocity=2805 fps
85.0 gr H322, three shot average velocity=2750 fps

I would now like to try loading 350 gr North Fork semi spitzers with H322 or IMR3031, if some one has data they would like to share I would appreciate what you have.

Man, what a beast that rifle is! Holy smokes. Hope to see it laying over an OR elk next year! Wow. Scotty
