I am looking for some load data for reloading my .30-06 using 125gr Speer TNT bullets using Varget powder. I find data using Sierra soft points but am not sure if thats relatable. Thanks for any help.

Code:
Cartridge : .30-06 Spring. (SAAMI)
Bullet : .308, 125, Speer HP TNT 1986
Useable Case Capaci: 66.804 grain H2O = 4.338 cm³
Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 3.340 inch = 84.84 mm
Barrel Length : 22.0 inch = 558.8 mm
Powder : Hodgdon VARGET

Predicted data by increasing and decreasing the given charge,
incremented in steps of 2.0% of nominal charge.
CAUTION: Figures exceed maximum and minimum recommended loads !

You can use the data for the Sierra bullet for your Speer bullet with no problem. Just start lower than the max load and work up like you should with the Sierra bullet. By the way if you want one drop them in their tracks deer killing load use the 125 Nosler ballistic tip and keep your impact velocity under 3000 fps. BANG FLOP.

...just for reference, Speer #14 shows 51.5grs. @ 2729fps- 55.5grs. @ 2993fps for Varget, nothing for H4350, mostly faster powders like 3031, 4320, 4695...

I had great results from the little Sierra Pro Hunter 125 grain in a 308 with Varget at around 2900. Knocked the baloney outta deer. Always wanted to try the same load with a 125 BT. I think it would be a great plant deer in their hoof prints load.

I guess I'll have to find another 308 to try it out!

Good luck with these. Sounds pretty fun.

SJB358, Give 46 grs IMR 4895 with the 125 ballistic tip a try in the 308 Win. It is really accurate in every 308 I have tried it in and it HAMMERS deer.
