Need some .30-06 with 180 gr Accubond loads

60 grains of Reloder 22 under the 180 AB works very well for me. Sub-moa accuracy and 2800+ fps muzzle velocity out of a 22" barrel.

Ditto in my Savage 116 Fss

If you decide to go to a lighter AB, I have been getting excellent groups in my 30-06 using the 150 AB's and H4350. I shot two different groups at the range range last evening with two different seating depths and shot 3-shot groups at 100 yards at .381" and .490". Needless to say, I have found my deer load for the season  .

How is the grain structure of R22? Is it big and long or somewhat shorter, like the Hodgdon Extreme powders? How's the temperture fluctuation effects upon velocity? I'm one of those guys who likes to throw propellants thru my Harrell measure instead of having to throw and trickle off the top.

RL 22 has a fairly short grain length. While I am anal about my hunting cartridges, and hand-throw all loads, it does meter as good as any extruded powder I have used.

My 30-06 loads measure just over 2800 fps at 20C (70F)

At -5C (22F) they drop to ~2725, or in other words not enough to make a difference. I do use a fairly hot primer, Winchester Large Rifle, in all my RL 22 loads.

In my Tikka '06, 57.0 grs. H4350, IMI brass neck sized, CCI 200 and a 180 gr. AccuBond has given me multiple 1/2" MOA groups at 100 and 2.5" groups at 300 (no pressure signs)....not I once shot a .480" group etc. I have not chronied this recipe but with a 200 yd. zero, it drops an honest 7.5" at 300 so it should be a solid 2700 fps load.

I'd be trying H4350 w/ the 180 gr. AB's

Ive also had good luck with the 180's with WXR, but it was with a Speer spitz.

Actually, I have been trying H4350 and the 180 AB this past few months from a very customized 20-year old Rem 700 ADL which had the 22" barrel turned down to a toothpick. The muzzle is .550" and Mag-Na-Ported. Overall rifle weight is 6 lb 9 oz w/o sling or ammo and a Leupold M8 4x. I had some old 20 year old Scotish made H4350 and danged if I wasn't getting sub-MOA groups. Anyway, I ran out of the old stuff and bought some of the new stuff. Thus far, it still gives the occasional sum-MOA out to 250 yards; my zero range. Load is 57.5 grains, WLR primers and Win brass giving 2729 fps.

The other day I had inconsistent group size at 250 yards. I honestly think it's my bench technique which is usually off a 40 lb folding table, with front and rear benchrest style gear. On Saturday, I had insufficient time before I was supposed to run into the office. So, I simply shot off the top of my sedan with the same front/rear gear. My groups seemed to string out vertically about 10" but stayed within 3-4" horizontally. Think it was the roof of the car!

Oh yeah. I was also getting sub-MOA from H4895; charges were "thrown" from my Harrell's measure. Best at 100 was .337". Velocity was 2684 fps w/ a 7 fps spread.

57.5gr H4350 with WLR primers goes 2775-2800 FPS in a 24" tube.Shoots .5 to 1 MOA right out to 400yds where I have shot 5 in 4".I use the data for both 180 gr accubonds and 180gr ballistic tips. The baltips shoot flatter but both are dead on left to right.RB

Yep! Finallized my LOAD early yesterday morning. 57.6 gr H4350 and 180 AB gave me 2740 fps from my 22" Mag-Na-Ported barrel. Groups at 250 yds were running 2.5" to 4".
