So I saw something yesterday I have never seen before.

A winchester model 270 pump in 22 caliber . Barrel indicated that rifle will accommodate short long and long rifle. It does sport a tubular mag and it is easily 95%. Trigger was not all that.

Is this thing worth anything? If so what?

Thank you!

Jerry Lee's "Standard Catalog of Firearms, 24th Edition, says:

"This is a slide-action rifle chambered for the .22 rimfire cartridge. It has a 20.5" barrel and a tubular magazine. The finish is blued, with a checkered walnut stock. It was manufactured between 1963 and 1973." Excellent condition is valued at $350, very good at $225 and good at $165. It looks a lot like the Remington 572 Fieldmaster.

Fotis, that Winchester is hard to find in excellent condition. Plus they are a well designed and made gun. You will pay a lot more than $350 for it.

I can get it for about 160 Charlie

Sounds like a good buy, Fotis. I don't think I'd pass on it. I did like my Fieldmaster.

FOTIS,
Winchester made an autoloader with the same sort of receiver profile and stock design. the stocks are kinda plain, and benefit greatly from from a little shaping and checkering. Need to verify if the wood is walnut or something else. I did up one for a younger fella in Cheyenne a couple years ago, found a picture. Shaped the comb and the pistol grip, and checkered. Shaped the slab forend by rounding and smoothing lines to get rid of the boxy look, and checkered. You found a nice rifle for that price, with a lot of potential!

Thanks Fotis! This one is a 190 from their model 190/290 series, the same age as the pump you're checking out. Here's a closer view of the worked over buttstock and forend:
