New .338 machinegun

Holy crap Guy! I want a pair of them on the tail of my truck!!!! That is awesome!

One of those things on the hood of my pickup would sure persuade slow drivers to gut out of my way!

...I can think of a few overgrown clearcuts in N. Idaho where one of those would make a dandy elk rifle...

Something like that would get someone's attention. It would be an awesome weapon.

Now your talking!

Not sure I would want to hump that piece around! Glad we have trucks to move them up and down the mountains!

That's what I thought after the first couple of times that we humped a doggone M2 .50 cal machinegun up and down the hills!

One time, and one time only, we "displaced" the .50 BMG without breaking it down... Left it on the tripod, with the barrel on, and just manhandled it about a quarter mile down one ridge, across a stream and up onto the next ridge to provide a base of fire for the next training event... Wow. What an insane idea! I think the whole thing weighed about 130 pounds on the tripod.

After that we always broke down the .50, but it was still significant. The guys used to call the receiver "The Humbler" because that square sided, sharp edged, 65 pound receiver would humble anybody who thought they were tough enough to hump it up and down the hills along with all their other gear... It humbled me a time or two! Spare barrels were a lot easier!

This new .338 machinegun makes me want to go back on active duty, just long enough to give it a good workout - not me - the gun!

Dang. That's quite a piece...

Guy

i cant think of a better way to spend 1500 dollars a minute! 2650 with a 24" barrel and a 300g matchking is impressive. i think i will have to sell the 30-338win and build the 300 norma. a .743bc 230 grain berger leaving the muzzle at 3000 and a case that fits nicely in the magazine without running a bullet past the gills would be sweet! and an excuse to buy a suppressor to boot.

That does sound pretty cool!
