Yes! Just what I thought actually.

Having a rethink on that project just a little. Think I will fit open sights to it in the form of a good peep and post arrangement, fit about a 21 inch #2-ish contour barrel and call it my short to medium range hog and deer buster.

You have a good memory Gerry!

I don't forget cool rounds like the 8x57 :) plus I'm on here multiple times a day  I would imagine those would be explosive at 325 WSM speeds but just right in the 8x57. Any idea when it will be up and running?

Just moved house/town/job. It will be an after Christmas project but I am excited about it.

It will be good to breath life back into Dad's old rifle and it will fill a niche that's empty in the safe at the moment. What better excuse?!

Certainly a great thing to keep your dad's gun going in a new form, hope you keep us up to date on how it works when your life settles down a bit. I bet the pigs down there will hate it :)

Great to see new bullets for the 8mm.. That should be real slick at 8mm Mauser speeds..

Yep the softish SST and the harder 180g Ballistic Tip is likely all anyone would need for a big range of game in the 8mm Mauser.

I reckon that 170g SST would be hell on pigs, goats and deer, while the 180g BT would be great on your elk or the sambar deer.

Great to companies bringing in new bullets.
