New Barrel Question

I recently had the barrel on my long time hunting rifle replaced - a 7mm Rem Mag. My gunsmith sent the rilfe to Pacnor to make the barrel, match contour, and chamber the barrel. I have a Pacnor on my 404 Jeffery and it shoots very well.

In any case, I received the new barrel mounted to my action, sent it to my metal finisher for bluing, received it back looking great and put it into the stock. I fired two shots through it to measure fire-formed brass to begin working on loads for it.

My QUESTION - - Upon cleaning, I noticed minute silvery metal flakes on my patches. Is this normal? I have never noticed this with the barrels I have used on new rifle builds (BRUX mainly). I should note that I do not build rifles, I order them built, then shoot them.

Any comments welcome.

I ran a lightly oiled patch through the bore when I put the barreled action back inn the stock.

I did not use nickel plated cases... just my usual WW brass.

I'll look into getting a bore scope.

Thanks

I've had several rifles rebarreled using Douglass barrels. I don't recall any metal flakes during initial clean up after shooting. It could be that my gunsmith did a thorough cleaning after test firing and finally releasing the barrel to my possession.
