Alright, so I guess there are some advantages to having a Christmas Eve birthday... my wife got me this little piece of glass for my birthday/Christmas gift. I've run a couple scopes on this .25-06 in the past few years, most recently both the 3-9 and 4-12 Redfield... but this Leupold has had me intrigued for a while. It's the 3-9x40 Mark AR, with the Duplex reticle... I wish they made them with the LRD though. I've come to the conclusion that for the type of hunting I do... a 3-9 is really the best way to go. This one also has the low-profile, 1/2" adjustment turrets... so you get 30" of elevation in one rotation... that's pert'near 1200 yards with the .25-06. Can't wait to get it dialed and then stretch the legs a little.

Here's the glass atop my Ti stocked 700 SS .25-06 wearing Talley Lows.

That looks good! How does that scope compare to the Redfield? Scotty

Honestly... I prefer the Redfield Accu-Range reticle... but the optics in the Leupold are better enough to notice a difference. Also, try as I might... I can't live without turrets. I guess I just have too much of that "Wonder if I could hit that rock over there?" blood pulsing through my veins. I really like the 1/2" adjustments... it's an option that I think more folks should pick up. I think you'd have to try awful hard to find a scope with more features for $300.

Nice clean lines. The 1/2 inch increments sounds pretty good. I'm interested in how it works out for you.

Painted the stock myself... it's a pattern I've been using for years... don't know that it makes the gun any more 'invisible' in the field... but it does look pretty cool. I just do a base coat of khaki Krylon, then use long grass as a pattern spraying the olive Krylon over it... get a couple layers on it... and it ends up pretty nice.

It's about a 3/4" gun... with 85 NBTs @3600, 100 ETips at 3300+, and 115 Bergers at 3200... I might could eeek another 1/4" out of it if I really got into 'development'... but I've found that it kills stuff really dead for a loooong ways... so 3/4" is good enough for me. RE-17 is the fuel for the 85s... and Ramshot Magnum is the soup-de-jour for the 100 and 115 loads lately.

Song, that's pretty neat pattern. I'll try duplicating it on my next build.

I did similar project a while back. I painted the wood stock on my 40X and I was pleased with the outcome. I used Rust Oleum Camo paint on mine.

Here's how it looks.
