Wanted to share a couple pics of the Mountain Rifle I have recently put together and will be using this fall for mule deer/elk.

Its a Tikka T3 stainless 300 wsm. I put on the B&C Medalist stock and had it skim bedded. The trigger is set right at 3#. It has leupold rings and bases, with a Vortex Diamondback HP 3-12X42 with BDC reticle.

I just got in some brass and will be looking to work up a good load with R17 and the 180 AccuBond. That bullet at 2900-3000 FPS corresponds just about perfectly with the bdc out to 600 yards.

Not sure what this rifle weighs now, but it is still way lighter than anything else I have and balances so well....Hopefully she shoots!!!

Nice work!

I'm betting it will shoot just fine, mine was extremely accurate.

I've got a real love for the 300WSM in a mountain gun, nice light rifle and there aren't many ballistic equations that a 180AB at 2950 won't solve.

...should do just what you've set it up for. My .300 WSM weighs right @ 7.4# w/ a VX-3 4.5X14, loaded w/ sling & delivers groups like this @200yds...

I imagine it will serve you just fine. It will no doubt please you. Looks alone are a fine start for that particular cartridge.

That medalist stock really dresses up that Tikka! I really like the 300 WSM in a handy rifle. I had a church member years ago who won a hunt/rifle combo in a raffle. It was a sheep/goat hunt in British Columbia and a little Browning Abolt in 300 WSM ( lucky dawg!) I worked him up a load with the 168TSX and he proceeded to kill both animals. I lent him my Swarovski 8X binocs for the hunt, so now my binocs have been to Africa, the US and Canada! ha. I have no doubt you can get that Tikka to shoot, my SIL has one in 7mm RM that is phenomenal, right out of the box.

I really like that set-up! I agree too that the B&C stock really looks nice on it. I think it will help with felt recoil as well and I think it will feel like it's less with that stock just because of the design and soft pad on the rear. Very nice!

Very nice. I don't see you having much trouble making a Tikka shoot. Haven't heard of one yet that doesn't shoot like Genes.

That B&C looks great. Should be a perfect set up for deer and elk as Hodgeman said. Not much a 180 at 2950-3000 won't solve.

Nice gun and scope!!
I've got a Sako in a 300WSM - similar setup.
I also just bought a Vortex Diamondback HP 2-8x32 Dead-Hold BDC. This is my second one of this model. It's going on a different gun.
