Just wanted to introduce myself, I am new to reloading and thought that I would register here to gain some knowledge as I learn the ins and outs of reloading. Some of you may know me if your also registered over on the Cabala's forums.

Welcome to the forum greenshovel, I know that you are going to like the guys here and girls if there are any  I really believe that there is not going to be many questions that you ask that will not be answered.
Knowledge abound here

Blessings,
Dan

Thanks Dan  Most of the equipment that I purchased is RCBS and I will be reloading for my .270 and 7mm STW (Accubonds)

Welcome greenshovel. The guys around here have helped me a lot in the last year. Surely you will find help in one of the 6751 topics discussed in this forum  . What are you loading for?

Right now my M70's .270 and 7mm STW - I will eventually reload my 30-06, 40, 45, and 38.

You will find many people to help with those calibers. Good luck with your loads

Hey Bud I have been loading for the 270 win for over 35 years. It is my favourite caliber

Blessings,
Dan

Welcome as well greenshovel, You made a good choice in RCBS gear most of my gear is and am very happy with it.

Not another .270 shooter? There goes the neighborhood...

Welcome aboard.

Welcome aboard.

I love my .270  this caliber was my first, I ended up selling it to a friend to get him into hunting (he is hooked) picked up a Remington 700 in 30-06 and shot this for years and missed that .270 bad. I was able to get a slightly used Winchester M70 from a brother at my Lodge for a song, so I purchased it and I now have a tac driver, four weeks later my battle buddy at work asks me if I would like to buy his Winchester M70 7mm STW (he needed the money) and so now I have a canyon shooter.

Welcome aboard, greenshovel. You're going to love handloading, I'm sure. When you get around to loading for the -06, I'll go ahead and suggest H4350 and 168gr Nosler Ballistic Tips. Start at 55-56gr and work up to 59gr, watching for pressure signs. Expect around 2850-2950fps out of that load. It goes sub-MOA in my -06, and it's also a favorite for many others out there.

I'm sure there's a "standard" 270Win load with H4831 or some such, but as I have a 270Wby to fill that niche in my safe, I can't help much with that. You should also consider Accurate MagPro for that 270Win, as it will provide excellent velocity and potentially good accuracy.

Good luck, and again, Welcome!

Greenshovel,

Good to have you aboard. There are some great people on this board, and a few old curmudgeons. Watch out for Scotty, he'll shortly ensure that you pick up a few more Model 70s. He's not at all restrained, like some of us. Then, there is Fotis. The man has owned hundreds (if not thousands) of rifles chambered in every cartridge imaginable (and some that are unimaginable). Seriously, you'll find a wealth of knowledge. If I might ask, whence the handle, "Greenshovel?" Interestingly enough, I never went to Harker Heights; but, then, I wasn't stationed at Killeen and I only went to Temple on a few occasions. There is some good looking country down that way, though.

Had a 30-06 and still missed the 270? Heresy.

In a seriousness, welcome to the forum.

Funny thing is, when Dan quit moderating, I got the same treatment from the first "new moderator" that a bunch of folks are now getting from the new "new moderator." That's why I left several years ago. You'll love the Nosler forum. All the good, and almost no drama.
