Has anyone used the new design grand slam bullets on game? I was gifted 220 of the 160 grain 7mm. I was thinking of loading them in the 280 Ackley for hunting. I read a lot of folks trash them since the redesign, and some love them. Too stout for deer?

They will do just fine. They should open a decent size would channel without a lot of extra meat damage. We used the old version of the 7 mm and it worked well

The 6.5 mm always was a one piece core and it is a favorite for deer and bear. My friend and son use the current 270 150 gr on deer, goat and bear. Same thing good wound channel but not excessive like some of the fast expanding bullets often used these days.

Hunter24605,
I used them last year to harvest a large mule deer and it performed extremely well. It was a one shot, with instant results. I normally would have used a Partition, but these were not available. For the price, they are a good performing projectile, and I will continue to use them, and they are available.
Best,
