Well, it is going to carry a Savage 111, a Tikka T3, a Remington CDL and Winchester Featherweight or two to the range tomorrow. Would you believe Mama is out of town? I have to get my driving in now as she is heading off to the States for an extended visit in a couple of weeks. Then, there's about six more waiting at the shop for me to begin on.
Your gonna love your 280 Ackley Improved !!!! I was fortunate to buy one at one of our local pawn shops , kind of have always wanted one. Its nothing fancy by any means.Its on a weatherby vanguard stock and action ( which is a howa 1500 ) however it has a aftermarket barrel 24" and fluted with target crown on the end. Scoped it with a Nikon 3 x 9 x 40 BDC Reticle got this scope at another place for $70 bucks. Bore sighted it and after shooting 6 rounds or so had it dialed dialed in its shooting Nosler Custom 140 grain Accubonds which our local sporting goods place stocks, shooting under 1/2 " groups and only have about a grand total of $600 in this rifle !!!! Sometimes a blind bird gets a worm !!! This is a real miricale but will be my primary rifle for years to come !!!! I really think if I put a better scope on it with 14 - 20 power it'd shoot hole into hole !!!!! Best of luck on your project and you are gonna be amazed at the 280 AI !!!!!!!

That sounds like a sweet rifle. For sure, it is a great cartridge. And it does sound as if you found "the" load for your rifle. Next time you're popping caps, grab a picture to post of the rifle and a target.
