New Range :(

Well I found the new range I had heard about. I got there this morning and it was raining and I only had 40 minutes to shoot before work so I shot at the .22 range (50ft to 50 yards). I was hitting a golf ball most to the time and having fun. I was going to go to a different range on the way home that I have the key to. When I got there, I found one of my sandbags missing. So, I drive 8 miles to the public range to get it. I figure, it is a work day and I am early, it will still be there. I pull up and it is gone. (my fault but still) I did shoot at one of the 200 yard ranges while there. I also looked at the 300 yard range and the bench is about to fall apart. Over all the range is set up nice but because it is public there is a lot of trash and you can tell some wingnuts use the place. I will only use it to shoot the 300 yard range and keep my membership to the other 100 yard range club. The nice thing about the 300 yard range is that you have to walk a few hundred yards from the parking lot to get there so I am guessing it will be used less often. It was a cool find but to see it full of junk sucks and knowing that there are some stupid people using it stinks.

I've never understood the mindset of some individuals. I suspect they are a decided minority, as most shooters are decent. Still, just a few can make a mess for others.

That is usually the way in most things
I know this in hunting private land. There are slob hunters who don't pick-up garbage & never close a gate
Then comes the no hunting signs :twisted:

Luckily we are pretty good about cleaning up after ourselves in my range.

I don't own a trail camera, but know they are getting better and better. Whenever I hear stories about public land vandals or other problems made by people who think they're invisible, I think how interesting it may be to have a trail camera there. We've got a little park with a basketball hoop problem. The youthful fun people try to dunk and hang from it late at night. I just might have to buy that camera for the HOA to use!!

Our club range is pretty good, with people cleaning up pretty well. Only exception is rimfire and cheap 5.56 brass must not be real brass like the "Clean Up Brass" sign is pointing too. I clean up a little extra every trip.
