got an 300rum in a SPS comeing in the mail with a VX11 3X9x40 plan to reload a 180 AccuBond What should expect out of this rifle for accuracy? This will be my new moose gun

The SPS is not handbedded from the factory and the stock has no real support front of the receiver. 1 1/2 inches is to be expected. The gun itself should and might shoot under MOA, but you might need to replace the stock with a McMillan or a HS Precision stock to achieve that level of accuracy.

Try different loads to see what shoots the best. A lot of 300RUM rifles on this site seem to like Retumbo. I personnally use 95gn for the 200AB and 98.5 for the 180AB. I will admit, this was the most finiky rifle I've reloaded for. Do a search for 300RUM or Retumbo or RUM. I personnally have posted a bit in regards to my load developement for mine. Good luck.

a buddy of mine got a SPS last year in 7mm rem and turned out to be a real shooter. did up a handload with 160's and retumbo which produced groups hovering near 1/2"...not bad for a bone stock rifle.

With any factory gun these days it is a toss of the dice. Could be 1/2" or 3" at 100. I have seen both from Win, rem, browning, and ruget of course!

Sakos, tikkas and Savage are the exception to the rule.
