Well I ran across a rifle I just had to pick up. It is a Brno ZKK 602 in .375 H&H, with the pop-up peep sight. I think it is a late 60's, maybe early 70's version.

It has some little dings and minor rub marks, the usual hunting wear you would expect to see on a stock that has been used but not abused. The stock, which is the old style that has the straight comb and rounded forend with black tip, does not have any cracks in the tang/pistol grip area. With a rifle of this vintage that is a good sign. Pretty decent figure in the wood. The metal has an interesting kind of dark gray/slate color to it and the barrel is bright and, as with most big bores, it does not look like it has had a lot of rounds through it.

I am ordering in a new front sight blade with a more visible bead, along with a spare. Will probably start with working up some loads with the 300 grain Partitions and then I am going to try the CEB offerings as soon as I can get my hands on some.

I plan on whacking a couple of bruins with it this spring.

That sounds like just the thing for spring bear. Give us a picture when you get a chance.

Awesome rifle. Almost owned one in 308 while stationed in FRG

Very cool, sounds like it'll be smashing on the bears! The 300 PT and the 375 have just gotta be a great combo.

Should be a mighty fine rifle!

I found one of those, lightly used, and a friend picked it up on a GREAT deal. He put it away for a return trip to Africa someday. He's made three trips now and has done well. Next time I think he'll take the BRNO.

Well I will post a picture as soon as I figure out how to do it. I am not sure I can as I do not and will not use photobucket or that sort of thing. Perhaps someone who is very savvy on the site can provide me with the necessary geek info?

To be sure, this rifle will be going with me when I finally get back to Africa. In the mean time it will spend a lot of time getting packed around in the north.

Man, Scotty, you must have been sitting atop that computer! Rapid post.

I happened to see it and being it is tough sometimes to figure it out, I try to keep a graphic around for guys to use. Doing paperwork today so I am half in and half out...

Thanks! I didn't look down there and just assumed the Img box at the top was the process for inserting an image. Here goes nothing.

Nice rifle, beautiful wood.

Refresh my memory... is a ZKK602 big enough to handle a .416 Rigby?

Yes the 602 will handle the .416 Rigby. Essentially it is the same as the CZ 550 with some cosmetic differences.

I use to have a CZ 550 in .416 Rigby. It was a fun rifle to shoot and hunt with. The only negative comment would be that it is on the high end when it comes to the cost of feeding it. But you guys all have lots of spare change for messing with this sort of thing so that is not an issue.

Hi Mooswa, what part of the frozen north you from :)
That Mr. Holland & Mr. Holland is a very nice looking rifle and the caliber is next to none.
Look forward to a range report with photos.

Blessings,
Dan
