Newfoundland Worries

I'd not lose sleep over it.

Sounds like typical gov't bureaucratic inefficiency rather than purposeful obstruction...it'll be back to business as usual soon. All of the ITAR stuff is going electronic and that covers a whole bunch more stuff than hunting rifles.

I hope you're right mate.

I know it wouldn't be the same as hauling your own rifle , but I am sure your outfitter would make sure you are good to go!! Worse case senario become a bowhunter...

Got the issue with the rifle sorted out.
All I need is the old form 4457. :)
That worked for years so I'm glad to see they rescinded the other stuff.
As for being a bowhunter, I just got a bow and taking it up.
I spoke with the outfitter in Newfoundland today and I'm taking bow and rifle. Depending upon the conditions I'll decide which one to use. I'd really like to use my bow.
The outfitter said his rifle success rate is 98 % and 55 % for stick and string.
Decisions to make and practice to do.

Vince,

Bow hunting is indeed a lot of fun but as you can see by the success rate, it is a tougher hunt.
You might want to double check with the outfitter but you may be faced with a weight limit. Packing rifle, case, ammo etc. and bow, quiver, arrows, case, etc doesn't leave much room for hunting coat, pants, clothing, boots, toiletries, etc.
With all due respect, it might be better to spend your rookie year bow hunting the local deer heard and chase an expensive moose hunt with a rifle.

Vince, your hunt is going to be a great adventure  which way you take your trophy is up to you.
I know that everything will work out for you!!! Remember lots of photos (y).

Blessings,
Dan

I'll mull it over and weigh everything.
I'm definately hunting deer in January with stick and string. :)

That's great Vince. You will love bow hunting.
I love the up close and personal side of bow hunting.
