My friend, works for a company that cleans up spills, he supervises these clean up projects for them. Well they had one on the west coast about a week and a half or so back and the two guys that were out there messed up the job according to California law and were sent home (fired). Ed was sent by the company to salvage the project and took their place.

Now you might ask what significance or why are you telling us this? Well, I was skunked on my bear hunt in Arizona and now I don't even get to go to Missouri because Ed's family has the three farms we were going to hunt on. Now that he is stuck in San Francisco for the next week and a half our hunting trip has been canceled.

No Cigar!!!! Ed is certainly disappointed since this would have been his first time in ten years to hunt and he thought he was going to be able to go home an hunt. I am not sure how I feel yet but if right now is any indicator of how I am going to feel tomorrow or the next day, it ain't good. Later

These things happen. I am sorry to hear this, but be grateful that Ed is a capable individual, respected enough to care for the spill. It is a bummer, but who knows what may turn up yet.

Season ends the 24th of Nov. and he will not be back in time to go. Well, I am about to let it go but it really caused me to have an attitude. He had a marriage fail because of so much time on the job and he doesn't know how to tell his boss no and his boss knows that. Now I am stuck hunting on public land here in south Mississippi and that is hard enough because of the number of hunters and the deer are not that big and a good rack on public land in South Mississippi is hard to find and you have to beat everybody else in getting him. Of course I do like the challenge. I sure hope I am not skunked this year.

Last year I can't tell you guys how many times I had to go hunting to collect the one buck down here I got and he was no prize (6 point). Might get to go to Louisiana in January and hunt a private lease like I did last year were I collected a buck and there are some decent racks on that lease, but have to wait till the middle of December to know for sure.

Sighted in my rifles for the final time this morning and all is well, they are ready to go. Will have three days of rain starting next monday to hunt in because down here I do not go on public land on the opening day which is this coming Saturday, (not with some of the hunters here who are true red necks, not to be offensive, it is just the truth). I also do not hunt on Sundays.

Don't worry, guys, my attitude will improve, just give me a couple more days and I will repent.

Sounds like you need a strong dose of time in the woods. I'm in need of the same, Mike! Unfortunately, it looks like hunting season will pass without my even buying a license this year, or stepping foot into the woods. We'll see.

But, hey, my wife is warming to the idea of me going to Wyo next fall for antelope...

Your right, a little time in any woods hunting will do the trick. I hope you get to hunt this year at least once.

It's all good, Mike. I'm blessed beyond what I deserve, for certain, and it's just one hunting season. If that's all I have to give up this year, I'm clear! God is good, all the time!

If you get a wild hair sometime, I'm still interested in hunting some of the public ground in north Mississippi! I'm working on a spot in western Kentucky if I can fanagle it, for next year, too.

Well, lets try and work that out for next year. I certainly am game for that and I think that would be cool. I will start reminding you this coming spring. bullet :)
