I tested my North Face Snowshoe sleeping bag I got some years ago this weekend to see how warm I would stay in extreme cold weather in a Cabelas's XPG ultra lite 2 man tent while coyote hunting at deer camp this weekend.

The bag is rated for 0 and the coldest it's gotten while using so far was 25 at night while hunting in Colorado and I had no issues with staying warm. Friday and Saturday night it got down around 15 both nights and with a sleeping bag liner and wearing thermal underwear I Stayed nice and warm and the tent had no issues with condensation what so ever.

I used the tent during turkey season last year and it poured rain two nights in a row and it stayed perfectly dry with no condensation issues.

If nothing else I know I won't be getting cold and wet out west this year!

Great report. Those are two items which really make a long day hunting much nicer. Do you have a picture of your tent all set up?

I'll take a few the next time I have it set up. I hope it never gets that cold while hunting out west, but at least I'll know I have some place dry and warm!

I'd rather find out here at home than 1,600 miles away at 10,000 feet or so if something's gonna work or not.

Without a doubt..

Nothing quite so miserable as spending the night out when you are wet and cold. A good sleeping bag and tent are priceless under such conditions.

I have the Cabela's XPG ultra light 3 man tent. I have only used it once on an August high country archery back packing trip. We had about two hours of torrential down pour and the tent stayed dry. I too am very happy with it.
