Hey guys , I'm new to this forum and I have questions about reloading, I haven't begun yet, but I'm working toward the tools to get me there.

Is the Nosler brass for competition and precision rifles ?
What about factory rifles ?

Nosler brass will serve a shooter well whether it is used in the field or from the bench. I shoot both custom and factory rifles, and use the best brass I can find. That brass is often Nosler. By the way, welcome aboard. If you need any help as you begin your reloading, feel free to ask. Those posting here are among the finest help you will find.

I used it in a .308 I had. I was very nice to work with. I am looking for some in 300 win mag for my hunting setup, but it looks like most if not all places have a backorder for them.

And yes, welcome aboard to the forum. I joined about a year ago and found it to be full of a lot of knowledgeable people with great personalities.

Thanks guys for the welcoming and the answers.
I've been goggle searching and reading the discussions for a while.

I've been buying pieces here and there along with powder ,primers and some typical RCBS dies, FL and seater.
I don't have a press yet , but they are easier to obtain than powders etc...

Will the RCBS dies handle any case manufacturer ? I'm asking this because I have read this and that and
when it comes brass , this seems to be the most crucial part of reloading.

I have 4 reloading manuals and Nosler #7 being one of them.

When you follow their data , does it work for you ?
Thanks again for you time !

Oh ! I will be reloading for the Vanguard s2 30-06.

Welcome aboard I am sure you are going to enjoy this forum . There is a tonne of knowledge and we have good fun here as well.
Nosler brass is top shelf no matter what application you are going to use it for. I use the Nosler 7 book or loads that the guys here provide me with they have not steered me wrong yet.
The only complaint some of us have is we some times get ganged up on because a special few of us shoot left handed and there can be some jealous over that !
Again welcome and jump right in.

Blessings,
Dan

RAY, your dies should work for any brass. A few things to keep in mind, when you start shooting with a batch of brass, shoot them and do not resize them until you have fired the entire batch. After that you can resize. This will keep them all at the same number of times being shot. I did not do that when I started and had some brass that was fired 6-7 times while others were fired 1 time and they were from the same lot. Another thing is to get a system to stay organized and write everything down. I have a notebook with notes on every round loaded. I also use a lot of zip lock bags to keep my rounds separated for the next trip to the range.

Enjoy the new hobby and this great forum. Welcome and have fun.

I just bought Nosler brass for the first time a couple weeks ago. I've gone almost 10 years of reloading just using the standard Winchester brass. Makes fine brass for hunting. I have some very accurate loads. Probably not what a guy would use for 1k bench rest shooting, but otherwise it's fine.

I'm just saying, I wouldn't over think it for now. I also use standard RCBS dies, but I do have one set of competition dies for my 223 bolt rifle. But the standard RCBS sizing and seating dies will work fine with Nosler brass.

Ray, welcome aboard... I am a relative newbie, left hand 30-06 shooter also... Using Nosler brass almost exclusively... You will find that Nosler brass is more uniform and ready to load than less expensive brass.. Good Luck and the only dumb question is the one not asked.. I bought the RCBS Competition dies as I like the little micrometer seating stem and window to place the bullet through when seating the bullet.

I've actually had pretty good luck using loads Nosler lists as "Most Accurate." But for sure don't shy away from trying other powders listed.

Thank you guys !
I like this forum and I have a lot of questions that I'll be asking.

Die sets from any manufacturer can produce accurate ammunition. The determinate factor is the one operating the press. I have used Forster, Redding, CH4D, Hornady, Lee, Lyman and several dies that are not so well known. All have produced accurate ammunition if I take care and do my part.

It's alright Dan, they make Nosler brass for lefties as well.

See I told you they are picking on a lefty again  everyone know that brass for a lefty has to be special ordered !!
Ray you will be up & loading in no time at all.

Blessings,
Dan

the nice thing with nosler brass is that it is ready to load, gives you an idea of what a case should look like after you trim to length then chamfer & debur the case.

that being said, the only rifle I use nosler brass in is my 280AI, it shoots great but I'm not a competent enough shooter to point and say "the brass made that group better" my other rifles shoot fine with winchester brass (still waiting to find 338-06 nosler brass on shooters pro)

Ray, I hand loaded for only one 30-06 for about 6 years. Not nearly as much experience as many others here, but in that time I did use the rifle for all my hunting and shooting, and rebarreled her a couple of times.

I have used Hornady, Remington, Nosler, Lapua, and Norma 30-06 brass. I sort brass over a Redding neck thickness concentricity gauge, and as a result I like to think I have a pretty good feeling about which 30-06 brass I prefer.

For higher volume shooting I like Lapua brass. It's very high quality. But I have to neck turn Lapua because my 30-06 has a 0.337 neck (tighter than normal), so I don't like to lose pieces. I won't usually hunt with Lapua, so I save it for the range, where I shoot most of my yearly rounds anyway.

For hunting I like Nosler brass. Funny, but the handloads usually shoot better with the Nosler brass than the Lapua, but I don't know why. I like the prep Nosler does, and the weight sorting. I would probably switch to just Nosler brass over Lapua if Nosler sold it in larger boxes than 50 pieces, like offering boxes of 100 and 250. I don't want to buy two boxes and inadvertently end up with brass from two separate lots that have different weights/thickness. As a result I get the Lapua for the range work, in a box of 100.

Welcome aboard Ray. You will definately enjoy this forum group. I have found everyone to be full of knowledge. I have just recently started using Nosler brass for my .308 (thanks Osprey78) and love working with it. I use it for field and in a non-custom rifle 40+ yrs old. If you can afford to use it you will really like it.
