That's just beautiful! Are you sure that's not a wall ornament? I'm sure she'll shoot just fine and will be pretty gentle. 7.5-8 pounds before the scope?

I need to put it on a scale, seems pretty heavy.
Then again, I don't have full strength back in my left arm from shoulder surgery in Dec.
I'm making great progress though and can't wait to start shooting.
We are going to shoot it today. I loaded up 10 rounds with the 120 gr BT.

Jim be careful with the shoulder. I hurt mine 6 months after surgery and it hasn't been right since.

We put 10 rounds through the rifle this afternoon, cleaning between shots for break in and got a zero at roughly 60 yards. All I can say is the action is as smooth as butter. The shells were picked up and chambered very nice.
Sue loves it and kept her shots in the bull with no trouble from the make shift rest and the Bullsbag. From what I can tell, this rifle is going to be a shooter.

Very nice! Don't rush the break-in. Take your time, keep the barrel nice and cool. Nice-n-easy running that cleaning rod down the barrel.

She will start off with some crop damage WT deer this summer. Hoping to pull a WY antelope tag for this fall. MI WT for rifle season. Future hunts would include Black Bear, Moose, Elk and African GP.
As Mike mentioned, the 280 AI will cover most any game in NA. A 7mm 160 gr PT at 2900-3000 fps will cover most situations out to 500 yds.

We are going to start the second phase of the break in this afternoon. 3 shots and clean 5x.
We will shoot at 100 yds off the bench.
Break in load is the 120 gr BT with 62.5 grs RL19, Nosler case and a Winchester WRM primer.
