Hello from Scotland. I am new to this forum stuff so here goes.
Has anyone out there got any recomendations for a good load for a 243win with a Nosler Partition 100grn.
We are not allowed to use anything less than a 100 grn bullets for Red Deer.
Many Thanks Ali

Ali,

IMR4350 was always an accurate powder for me in the 243 Win with the heavier bullets. Work up to 40.0-42.0 grs. SHould give you great accuracy and close to 3000 fps.

Ali; Try 43-44 grains of IMR 4831 or 44-45 grains of H4831. Both these powders have worked well with the 100 Partition in 243. As usual caution, start low and work up carefully. Regards, Eagleye.

ali, the above powders are very good but so is reloader 22 book max is 42.5... 38.5 is starter load, the 42.5 shot 3/8 inch for me at 2oo yards browning BBR 243, regards jjmp

jjmp,

Good point, RL22. I have had great luck with Alliant powders in several calibers.

My go to load
100 grain Partition
fed 215M
wIN bRASS
47.5 gr of IMR 7828
Usually very accurate and 3250 fps! Max in my rifles of yesteryear.

Pop - Don't see too many people considering IMR 7828 for the 243. I picked up a pound to try with the 243 and 25-06 as I favor slower powders that allow a slightly compressed load. Is the Fed 215M primer equivalent to the Winchester Large Rifle Magnum Primer (WLRMP)? The manuals suggest a magnum primer with this powder and I have the WLRRP on hand.

Not to change the subject but I also like Retumbo with the 25-06. I don't have a chrony so can't make any statements about velocity but accuracy with the 100 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips is fantastic. I get a little blackening around the case neck indicating inadequate case expansion (slow powder) and want to try the 7828 to see if it improves the situation.

Try it. You will love it. Very close (if not better than) the 243 wssm.
I also wanted to try 49 gr or so of RL 25 in it. Never got the chance sold the gun.
