Well I certianly can't take credit for it, but it'll reside in my safe due to my Dad not having one and all the reloading equipment is at my place.

I've been wanting a .270 just to place between the .260 & .280 I have.

Today Dad purchased the first Weatherby to come into either of our houses in a Vanguard Sub MOA. .270wsm.
The trigger is definately going to need a little enhancment, but short of that I like the feel of it.

Nothing quite like adding more accubonds to the shelf.....

Powerstroke

Congratulations on the new rifle. The 270 WSM is a dandy.

Get some 140 gr AB;s and some RL22. Work up and you're good.

congrats

I picked up some R-17 and it shooting pretty good in my 270WSM with 150gr bullets and I like the load density with that powder.

Powerstroke,

Congratulations on the 270WSM. It is a fun calibre. I'm certain your Dad will appreciate the fact that you take care of him by working up loads for him and ensuring that the rifle does not get too lonely.

IMR 4350, RL 19, H-4831 SC and IMR 7828 SSC are working good in my 270 WSM.

It is a fun caliber to shoot and has very good energy delivery as well. The velocity, IMHO, is a moot point, as it has plenty.

Good luck and safe shooting!

If I were going to buy another rifle it would be the .270WSM .It is a sexy cartridge.I own two perfectly great .270 win and a Weatherby Fibermark fluted stainless .270 Weatherby Mag so I guess I really can't justify owning one.

Those sub moa weatherby's are nice, my dad picked one up in 300 wsm and it shoots good and I like the way it looks. On the 270 wsm, I have had good luck with 7828 and 4350, both powders producing 1" or better at 100 yards with AB's or BT's, havent had a chance to try anything other powders yet.

CONGRATS

Love my two Tikka T3 LS 270WSM rifles. Great caliber with reloads of 140gr Accubonds with Retumbo and Federal 215 primers. this caliber / bullet combo sure has impressed me. I almost hunt with it the most now - elk, moose, whitetails and mulies.

I would love to have a custom rifle in .270WSM. Make no mistake the .270 Weatherby is bad ass. I chronoed the factory loaded 130 grain at 3600fps.
Hard to believe, but I might just buy a case of that ammo.It shoots MOA.

Good Choice!
I chided my buddy who is the" Pig Hunter supreme" about his choice of the 270 WSM. He's made more one shot kills than I have with my 300 Wby. That is one fine caliber.
Enjoy

Well I've finally made a decision on which direction to go with the scope. More than anything, this will be for my Dad & potentially my wife this year.
My Dad has been telling me to put one of our Straight Leupy 16X's on it. Both that we have were sent back to T.K. Lee years back and had the dots cut down in them. ( Terrible for hunting in low light conditions ) !

Option #2 I've pulled the VX-II Leupy off my .257 Bee and put on it instead. This one is a 6 X 18 with the LRV reticle. Hopefully it'll reach out and touch something here in a few months.

I've slowly here and there been gaining components for it.... dies, bullets etc. Guess that is the worst part about a new caliber in the safe... no bullets to share

A handsome rifle, Powerstroke. I'm certain your family will enjoy it.

I got a Walmart Special 270WSM (Winchester made rifle/scope combo just for Wall World). This was in Dec 2002 for $398. It's basically the Super Shadow Mod 70. Anyway, the darndest thing is, I haven't found a Nosler bullet it won't shoot well under sub-moa - 140AB, 130ET, 150PTG, 160PT, 90HP. The cheap Simmons 8-point got replaced with a 3-9x50 Vari-X III.

I hope you have as much luck with your 207WSM as I have, as many CA hogs, a few CA blacktail, and an ID cow elk have fell victim to mine. Your's definitely looks far better than mine though.

Powerstroke, you will really like that 270WSM. Mine is a M70 Laminated with a VariX III 3x9-40 on it. It shoots everything really well. Plus, the recoil is pretty mild. It is the 06 of my safe, when I am not sure about what to take, I take it with me. It shoots flat and hits very hard. Good luck with the Wby, I just got a Sage Country a while back in 7mm Rem Mag, and I still need to get it dirty (in the game fields). Scotty
